Hi pat100. I can advise that the 'dead' line would have to be started by BT and to arrange the start a BT Openreach engineer is required to connect the line at the exchange. For this work a charge of ?122.50 is raised. I can also advise that the 18 month term for Broadband has an introductory discounted offer and that is the reason the option was taken. Further to this I can advise that prior to the activation of the new services a letter was sent to confirm the new services ordered, their terms and costs.
If you need any further assistance, please PM me the a/c details in question and I?ll be more than happy to look into this for you.

Hey Brian The Lion,
Just to confirm that offer has indeed been extended until the 31/12/09. To qualify you must have both your line and calls through BT and make 10 chargeable or inclusive calls calls per month (30 per quarter) with BT or you will be charged a £6.80 per month/£20.40 per quarter on your bill. This charge will appear in the ‘One off charges’ section of your bill.
Drop me a PM if you need any help or wish to place an order.
Thanks

I've just moved into a new flat and there is a BT line in the lounge. I plugged in a phone and there's a dial tone.
Would I still have to pay £122.50 for this line to be activated? (assuming this offer didn't exist of course)
I ask because I just went through the online order process for the Evening + Weekend deal and there was never a mention of connection charges etc. I don't want to then have a £122.50 charge slapped on my first bill.0 -

You could always ask by email - forum.moderation.team@bt.comTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll email them and check.0
