    Afternoon all, :D

We have been in the garden and had a snowball fight, built a snowman, and had another snowball fight with the neighbourhood kids :T. We then went up the woods for a walk, where the snow was about 6" deep, it was beautiful, I have put some photos on FB if anyone wants a nose.

Bargain bird, your dd's are beautiful, wont be long untill Spike is out there playing with them x

    Katholicos thinking of your dad.

Meat is in the oven, just going to make some cookies and cakes to shove in too, snow meant to be getting worse later to stay safe xx

Katholicos - A candle has been lit for your Dad x

    bargainbird - What a lovely photo :D

Hilstep - I'm glad the meeting is going to be at your house. Thinking of you.

Csarina - (((HUGS))), I do hope they can find out what's causing your OH's dizzy spells!

Penelope penguin - Good luck to your DD!

Dinner tonight was going to be stew, but the meat hasn't thawed enough so we'll have Cod Bordelaise (from Lidl) with HM wedges instead, then have the stew tomorrow. I'm glad we bought enough meat for several meals the other day! And bought eggs too, so won't need to worry about going out much. And I know we bought a box of basmati rice when we went to Lidl the other day, but there's no sign of it in the kitchen, so I'm hoping it fell out of the bag on the way home and is somewhere in the boot. Otherwise it means DH left it in the trolley - I went and sat in the car while he packed up the shopping. Oh well, if it doesn't turn up I hope it was found by someone who needed it more than we did.;)
  • Good afternoon and ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to everyone.

No snow other than the odd flurry here and there but bitterly cold and windy today. Furbaby is not thrilled with the weather and on her last walk wanted to run home after she was done her thing. She had on her doggy coat so we were both bundled up well.

(((((((((((Tristan))))))))))) continued prayers are being lifted for you and for you also (((((((Diva))))))))

((((((((((((Katholico's Dad))))))))))))))) prayers also have been lifted.

((((((((((((BargainBird)))))))))))))) what gorgeous girls you have. Thanks for sharing and for the smile you gave me. :)

I got the flat tidied, kitchen and bathroom scrubbed down this morning. The clean clothes are all put away with the exception of those that need ironing yet. Ironing is sounding like a great idea right now, just because the iron is hot and gives off heat.

Tea tonight will be fish pie and some veg. Need to find a recipe for making candied ginger also as Mr M's had a huge bag of ginger root for 59p yesterday. I couldn't leave it. :rotfl: Got a few more YS things while we were there. And they had a 3.5kg pork shoulder for £2.45/kg so was quite pleased with that. I cut a small joint portion off for tea last night and still had leftovers. Will had that to some egg and veg fried rice that's in the freezer for a nice pork fried rice later this week. I need to finish cutting the uncooked part up and freeze it today.

Heading off to make some bread dough up as we're nearly done our loaf. I'm going to make that gorgeous chocolate pudding cake while the bread is baking. Oh I love that stuff. :D

Have a good rest of your day all. Thinking of you all. Bundle up and please be safe.

    Peyton xx

  • Well made it into placement/work this morning (I had an important Uni/progress meeting with 3 others that was supposed to be at 4 this afternoon, but knew that would get rearranged. So now home again with 3 DD’s who are all sooo excited it’s snowed, loll!!! Am supposed to be in Uni tomorrow so don’t think I will be going anywhere then either unless it improves drastically. A bonus lazy day! A chance to potter & bake perhaps – I got some fresh blueberries in Mr T’s earlier (on the way home from the office) for £1.50 instead of £4, so I think muffins may be making an appearance….

MSD, that’s positive news, I am so pleased, and that Tristan knows that people are thinking of & caring about him. Also hope your OH gets some relief from his migraine too – they are horrible things to have L
Donny-Gal, hope the rest of your journey goes well – and you aren’t battling through the snow like us?! Hadn’t been on so much as my laptop was in computer hospital, came home Friday but is going back again as the problem wasn’t fixed properly (mainly due to the callcentre not listening properly the first time I phoned…).
Tru – the visions I have of dead mice dropping from the sky are….eugh!!!!!!
Redruby, hope you are managing to rest that ankle today, sounds painful L How is your nephew doing now by the way? (edit, I see you’ve been playing in the snow too, lol!!!)
PenPin, glad you are staying tucked up at home today too.
Halight – fingers crossed for you, I’m sure with your positive attitude & good work record that will all help.
Taplady, thinking of you this afternoon too
Mrs Mix, good to see you J Hope you are feeling a little better now – and congratulations to your DS on passing his driving test!! Well done him J
Silvercharming, lots of breathing & counting to 10 advised I think…. It’s very easy for people to ask “why do you put up with this” when they’re on the outside of a situation… Not always as simple as we would like it to be.
Katholicos, sending positive thoughts and good luck wishes for your dad.
Hilstep, being on your own territory always makes you feel stronger & more positive – good luck, and make sure you reiterate how you feel about the way you’ve been treated by the Head!!
Bargainbird, your DD’s are sooo cute!!!!

The snow has perplexed one of my cats & she is dementedly hopping about, miaowing & not quite knowing what to do with herself!! She must never have encountered it before, having been a rescue cat from Spain – obviously from the warmer parts….

How will you manage when they turn off the analogue signal in your area? You will need to get a digi box or have cable again.....

They are not doing that here in London til 2012. I hope that then finances might have changed.

We dont get a signal at all from the analogue so it won't be any different than being TV less from next month onwards. Currently when the cables down we have NO tv and when it's working we have to watch every channel through it even terrestrial. We have cable but flatmate who is in charge of bills etc as it is his home says he cannot afford to have it. I read a lot but I do like to have the option in case there is anything on. Not that there is now 24 and Lost have gone to cable and most of the other shows I watched have ended. There is only My Name Is Earl and Desperate Housewives I still watch really and I guess I can buy them.. tho I don't like to buy tv show drama dvds as you watch em once and you know what happens(for some reason this doesnt matter with films LOL)

Does anyone know if they can still sting you for the licence fee if you can prove to them that you cannot get a picture ? Like if you just use it for dvds and you can prove to an inspector that there is no way you can view any channels??? That should be quite OS and MS if we can perhaps get away with a refund for the rest of the period..

  • well lots of snow here in the east midlands. didnt go out yesterday as too cold and snowy.

Had to go to work today, grateful husband had put car in the garage, housing estate was an ice rink not much fun driving (sliding)out, then took 2hrs to go the 6miles to work, it was mental. I normally start at 8am and got there at 9.30am. Had to cancel loads of appointments but had a good office day.

came home early with work to do at home as weather getting worse and didnt want a nightmare journey home, got back in 30mins so not too bad.

Husband cycles and he got to work ok, just rang him and they wont let them go early, I said just to ask as he gives them extra time and he doesnt want to cycle in the dark if he can help it. (its only an insurance company- mind you prob busy with claims today!)

Chicken drumsticks (special offer 99p in marks and spencer) with home made wedges and salad for dinner.

    Hello again
Managed to get mum to hospital for appt, got a few bits in village shop & was home just after 12. Teenage DS had been babysitting toddler for me & took him out to play in the snow - loved it by all accounts! :D Teenagers do have their uses, esp when he wanted to play out himself! :rotfl: He's now gone out sledging with mates, think it's only the 3rd time in his life he's done that.
Little 'un asleep, but getting up soon. Not much OS done today, forgot to take chicken out of freezer, so with oven up the spout tea will be something tinned (beans, soup, pasta, etc) with a pile of toast. Loads of snow here (for us, anyway), had a bit of a lull at lunchtime, but sky darkening again & snowing again. Supposed to take mum's evening medication down tonight, only 5 mins walk, but I'll ring & she if she needs it (only painkiller) before I go. Might be a good chance to make sure she's warm enough - just me feeling a bit selfish cos I don't want to go out in the snow in the dark! :o
Off to wash up & clean kitchen & take chicken out of freezer for tomorrow - forecast not good for Tues so feel like making comfort food.
Hope everyone's kids, hubbies/partners, parents, etc, get home OK today & you're all warm enough (physically I mean - you're all very warm emotionally! :D )

  • Hi Again Guys!

Quick question.....I have some veg that need using from last week and wondered if this sounds ok to you lot????? ......I will use my very large pan with lid and brown some onion and add carrots, swede, few sprouts, sweetcorn, left over mushrooms and a tin of chickpeas. Add about a litre of stock and maybe a couple of spuds.....do you think that will be ok?...will mushrooms be ok in it?

Have found 3 large chicken breasts in freezer, so have got those out for a cassarole tomorrow in SC with veggies and mash and tonight we are having leftover bacon, oven chips, egg and beans....nice and easy.

Still snowing heavily here, so its about a foot deep now. OH & DD have built a huge snowman...will post a pic later if I can.

Forgot to say that we are going away for 5 days in half-term to our friends chalet again and DD's best mate is coming and I was chatting with her via IM earlier asking her what foods she liked and she is quite fussy. However, she said that she is used to cooking for her family of 5, so she is willing to cook each day and stated she can clean and iron too. Said to her that we wouldnt expect her to cook and clean etc, but if she could tidy up after herself that would be great. She also said that she would push me in my wheels if OH got tired.....bless her! Her & DD have decided to do 2 of the meals for us...spagbol and pizza/buffet. I thought that was ever so sweet of her to offer though. Her mum is trying to give me £70, but she shouldnt cost that much surely?

    afternoon all!

back from the dreaded smear test - seemed to take ages as she had trouble locating my cervix:eek: now got to wait 6 weeks for the results.
Good news though this afternoon - have been given 3 new pairs of pjs(M&S) one with a matching dressing gown - some people waste an awful lot of money dont they! not that I'm complaining.

My 2 DSs have been out having fun in the snow(bit old at 16 and 19:D ) and we're about to wrap up and take the dogs out in a minute.

Hope you're all nice and snug!
    Do what you love :happyhear

Was it not where it should have been? ;)

Like JustPeyton4Now, we have very little snow (probably because we're in the same vicinity! currently in work beside Mr T's :)) but the sky is looking very grey & the clouds have that funny tinge that usually means snow. Doubt it will stick though, if it DOES land! DS2 texted me this am to say his college (just off Kensington High Street) is shut as the lecturers and students couldn't get into central London, and DB1 had to walk to his offices due to no buses/tubes/trains......and he says he still hasn't seen a gritter or snow plough  Hey ho, I can remember the country used to be able to cope with what is now called "extreme" weather when I was a kid (or was that because I used to live half way up the Pennines just off Saddleworth Moor and it snowed every winter up there?!)

OS-wise, my BF's hubby shoots, so I came home with 3 lovely fat pheasants c/w innards & feathers on Saturday. OH did the deeds on them (the hall looked like there had been a pillow fight :D), jointed 2 for the freezer & we had the other roasted, with goose-fat (from Xmas) roasties and h/m gravy & bread sauce for tea last night and it was scrummy! So will be making pheasant stock tonight with the carcass, which will be swiftly made into pheasant soup with the scraps & frozen.
