If there's anyone around I could do with some advice. Despite having 5 babies before this time has been different as usual. I have been suffering from really bad headaches for the last 4 weeks, I'm 14 weeks now. Todays is the worst, terrible if I get up. The headaches are so bad that they wake me in the night often about 4 or 5 in the morning and all the paracetamol does is takes the edge of it. Anyone else had this in pregnancy, sure it's down to hormones but would really aprreciate some reassurance. Thanks.

    Happy New Year too!
I've had the same sort of thing, bordering on migranes, I would seek advice from your midwife or doctor, the doc could possibly prescribe some codine which is a bit stronger and can be pretty effective when taken with the paracetamol, but apparently not all docs will prescribe this.
But deffo get yourself checked out xx
But one thing you need to make sure is that you are keeping yourself well hydrated, lots of water.
My midwife also said that a bit of dark chocolate and a can of coke might help (i have no idea why though!)

One thing I have done is drink loads, was very careful as in the past I have had cystistis. Sounds like I will have to put up with them but will have a chat with MW tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies. Dreading next week as I'm back to work, in a classroom with 25 kids which will be great with my head.
Too many children, too little time!!!

Definitely get the headaches checked out... I'm sure with 5 kids already you know that persistant headaches can be a sign of more serious things too so even if only to put OUR minds at rest please have it checked? :)

Drink LOADS of water - if need be try things like sports waters - they have electrolytes etc in them which helps absorb the fluid better - that's why the athletes use them :) Also keep your sugar levels up - I get horrid headaches if I haven't eaten :)

    Happy 2009 to everyone!

OMG  I'm having a baby next month

Headaches - i suffered for about the first 20 weeks of this pregnancy with migraine, which paracetamol didn't touch. Sleep and a dark room was the only help. I didn't suffer at all with first two (not that I remember), and from 20 weeks i've not suffered one. Just one of the many lovely effects of pregnancy I think.

    Happy New Year all!

We had a damp patch appear on the kitchen ceiling a few weeks ago. Lettings Agent sent a Plumber, who said it was likely to be people splashing in the bath that caused it. He said that if it got worse, he'd take the bathroom floor up.

Today, the dining room wall is soaked, turns out it wasn't the bathroom that was the problem, there is a massive hole in the radiator in the bedroom next to the bathroom! He didn't even look in there! Must have been a tiny leak for a few weeks, then today it just went. Whole wall is running with water. Oh dear! Landlord won't like this, he doesn't like to spend money on maintainance. Don't think he can get away with ignoring this though.

Phoned the emergency people, now waiting for a contractor. Thanks to the baby, I'm allowed to keep the heating on. Otherwise he'd have to tell me to turn it off!

Hi all.. Have just heard from OH - he's just got up and is feeling much better so I'm allowed home again. I'm actually feeling rather well today (apart from a touch of a sore throat but this is about the fifth one in the last month and it's never come to anything before so I'm not worried) so I'm going to go home soon and try to get OH to start helping me plan the house revamp. We need to discuss the kitchen, bathroom, replacing two ceilings, lots of carpet and potentially ripping out the huge brick fireplace and then obviously replastering - argh!!

Good afternoon all - welcome to 2009.

Well last night ended up in a massive row, which carried on until midnight, and probably just after too..... Good old new years eve!!!

I think we have 'sort of' made up now. It was a funny coincidence reading all your chat about *ahem* this morning, as that is partly what the argument was about. Along with the many other things that often get dragged up in arguments.

Oh well let's hope for a nice calm day now, hopefully we can resolve any issues in a more reasonable manner from now on...the poor kids were up in their room whilst we were yelling, although they had the wii on quite loud so probably didn't hear much. (they went to bed at about 9.30pm)

    Just to add...I am 30wks today:j
