  • dreams are such a pain when they interfere with sleep.
Last night was exhausting. I started dreaming almost before I got to sleep (at least, that's what it felt like) and didn't seen to stop 'til I woke up again. Last thing I remember was telling the helicopter pilot to head for Helsinki. Why Helsinki?!
me i just woke up and gave up trying, 5 was an improvement on the last couple of days 3 or 4 am though...even if it was because i stayed up later last night.
I discovered years ago that staying up later didn't mean I'd sleep any better or for any longer. Now I go to bed when I'm too tired to stay up any longer (usually between 9 and 9.30 pm - sometimes as early as 8) and get up when I wake or when the alarm goes off at 8.00 am whichever happens first.

Oh joy, it's gonna be a loooong day.

  • yeah i do bed when im too tired to stay awake too, just a shame that as soon as i get into bed im no longer tired enough to fall asleep. or maybe its just that my brain suddenly has free rein to think about all the stuff im spending all day trying not to think about.

its quite funny really, this last week and a bit i have emailed my sister at work before going to bed, asking her to ring me, as i normally do when i have to be somewhere, and then had to email her again to tell her i was up anyway.

when im sleeping alarm clocks dont disturb me, or only rarely do they. and i have been known to crawl under the bed to get at the plugs and turn the clock off, somehow its easier done in my sleep and almost impossible awake.

i appear to be rambling sorry.

Helsinki? what a strange place to dream about, has it been mentioned somewhere or on the news or something to put it in your head?

I don't do alarm clocks - I set my phone to ring at the appropriate time, it seems a kinder waking somehow.

No need to apologise -we've all done it.

I've got no idea where that dream came from - it was sort of James Bondish (I have a feeling I was fleeing from the Russians) but the last JB film I watched was about 10 years ago, so it's not as if I'd had even that sort of stimulus to get me going. Not had a TV for about 11 years, and currently reading Terry Pratchett. Weird.

  • the alarms on my phone are both ring tones, my ipod dock has one that beeps and one that plays my music, then i have a old fashioned wind up bell alarm and one that plays the tune of how much is that doggy in the window, woof, woof over and over (which took my cat a year to get used to and not run in fright).

i can answer the phone and have a chat in my sleep too though, but my sister can tell when im doing that and rings again 5 mins later, she doesnt let me go until she can hear that im out fo bed and putting the kettle on as at that point im usually awake enough to stay up.

very very weird dream. i have no watchable tv either, its great, i so do not miss it.

Me neither. I think in the last 3 or 4 years (since I got my laptop) I've actually watched 1 programme through the internet (using whatever the predecessor of iPlayer was), but I don't think there're any programmes that I miss being able to watch.

I've always been more keen on the radio anyway, so it's not as if I'm missing out on what's going on in the world. It's amazing the number of people who can't understand how you manage without a TV though.

  • it is amazing, i get met with shock and exclamations of what on earth do you do, dont you get bored. i onyl hear about whats going on in the world though if someone mentions it on a forum or lj, or if i remember to go read news pages.

    its freezing outside.

If you want to hear real shock and horror - tell someone you can't drink alcohol.

They have got no idea how it's possible to manage without.

And yes, I've met this attitude that without a TV one must be bored stiff. Apart from the fact that boredom is a luxury for those who are well enough to have surplus energy to experience, it also show a distinct lack of imagination. There are so many other things one can do that don't involved having your eyes glued to a box in the corner of the room.

You can [STRIKE]waste[/STRIKE] invest hours on the internet on message boards, for a start...

  • i get the alcohol one too and so much pressure applied to just have one, then another etc despite the fact that i cannot drink it whilst taking meds. makes me angry that one does.

even when i had the tv, i never ever just watched tv, i would always be doing something else as well and once i got the internet, i dont think i could survive without internet now.

It's interesting that the fact that alcohol makes me feel very unwell (I can end up nauseas and 'hungover' after a sip) is not deemed good enough reason by many (and my family in some cases) for not drinking (or avoiding certain foodstuffs if I can't check the ingredients - that's deemed making an unnecessary fuss), but the fact that it doesn't mix with the meds is.

  • can i slap them? if anything makes you feel that unwell it is much better to avoid it (even if its just in case) than end up feeling unwell.

i wish people had more understanding, tolerance, cant think of the word i want.

im sick of chewing gum, any ideas for dealing with dry mouth? drinks only work for so long as the are in my mouth....
