    Good evening everyone :hello:

DH and I watched Martin on "It Pays to Watch" whilst having our supper. DH knows that talking to me is not an option whilst I'm taking in Martin's latest shirt. :money: :money:

Supper tonight was game in red wine pie (bought at the gift fair yesterday) with potatoes and peas. A simple supper, but very yummy! I really must take something out of the freezer for tomorrow night's supper. Theoretically, I could be organised enough in the mornings to put the slow cooker on before I go to work........................

I'm sharing lifts to work with someone who now works at the same school as me, yet lives in the same area as me. :j :j This has really helped to cut my costs, which is great in the run up to Christmas. For some reason (don't ask me why....) I've never actually budgetted for Christmas and birthdays, so I get a big "hit" at this time of year.

Not much else OS happening here today. (WM is on though :D)

not a regular on this thread but just thought I'd pop in and see what all the fuss was about!

nothing exciting to report, except DH took DD out for a walk and I spent the time...ironing! (groan) made a good impact into the ironing mountain, and a lot of what's left is either out of season clothes/grown out of/not liked, so may well divide it between the loft and the charity shop.

Thanks Diva for the pickle recipe....Ulick, DD4 and I are all fans so there won't be a problem using it up quickly.

PenPin...I bought an American style fridge/
freezer when I was redoing kitchen and I am very pleased so far, it seems to have much more space than my previous f/f, which was dead on its feet....I also find it easier to get at stuff in it. It doesn't have the ice/water feature, as it would have meant a lot of faffing around to have water piped to where I wanted to put f/f was something over €500 in white, €60 cheaper than stainless steel, white is also better in my kitchen.

Patient is looking forward to having his umpteenth blood test (for this week) in the morning....not!

Anyone thinking of buying a Remoska, think carefully about what size to buy.

As there are only two of us, I bought the Standard, but for the extra £10 I wish I had bought the Grand. I love mine, but it isn't big enough for my cake tin, or to reheat a large pizza. As my lovely Mum used to say "what will hold a lot will hold a little " ;)

    :rotfl: Hi all

Not really os but jst wanted to say my new rangemaster cooker came today its lovely :j

Lots of batch cooking for me
  • I quire agree owens. A super huge cooker has really perked up my cooking libido!! I went from single oven (which had to be wedged shut with a chair) and no separate grill, to 2 ovens and a grill last Xmas, and haven't lookd back. For s0ome reason the main benefit seems to be that I cook lots more veg??? and of course baked spuds, which is where the timer on the oven comes in very handy too.

Thriftlady-than you so much for the apricot and choc chip muffin idea. I make loads of muffins, especially carrot, apple and sultana, but hadn't thought of that combo. Does anyone have a recipe for really lemony lemon muffins? I made some the other day, but they just aren't tangy enough for me....the kids will eat them up though!

Thanks Diva- survived the elderly thai curry....so far! Endless HM leek and potato soup for tomorrow. Does anyone else have that "growing" problem with leftovers? There just isn't quite enought for a meal, so you add some veg or something and then it's too much, hence more leftovers. In the end you can't even remember how old the starter dish is?

Do baked potatoes freeze OK? Do you microwave them from frozen? and do they get that mic'd sogginess?

Thanks everyone, and have a good night!!

  • Hi there - long time lurker although usually don't have time to post. However am off sick with flu/wobblylegs/lurgy so have had lovely day with hi tech hotwater bottle (laptop) on knees knitting a shawl reading the forum. Have done nothing OS ( apart from eating home grown apple) but hope that is OK as I am certified poorly!
