Driveway parking?

Does anyone know what measures you are allowed to take in order to stop someone parking in your driveway?

New neighbors moved in last month and twice have their guest parked in our drive.
First time I just asked if they could not do it again and allowed them to leave it there( Didn't want us to get off on the wrong foot). Two week later there was a car blocking my foot way crossing so no car could get in or our of our drive. I called the council and they sent a traffic warden round to issue the car with a ticket. Only realized it belonged to next door when they moved it. Today there is another car in our drive, I asked them to move it and they said yes, 20mins later it was still there and when I asked again they said the person with the keys has left.
That was three hours ago and its still there. My hubby is away on business and has our car, so I don't need the drive but surly thats not the point. As its Saturday the council aren't available but I don't think they do anything when its in a drive as its private. Has anyone had this and what can I do?
Thanks

    Close your gate?

Sorry, go back and insist that it is moved. There is a certain type of people who would do that.

Erect signs and issuse a PCN. May involve purchasing a wheelclamp though:rotfl:

Seriously though, I think there's laws against blocking someone's access, but not sure if it would apply here as the vehicle is on private property

I wish we had a gate! its just an open drive.
They seem very unhelpful and the woman just sent her bloke out to talk to me.
I said I get the council to issue a ticket but they cant. As far as they are concerned they cant move it as they don't have the keys.
Had my husband been here he would have moved if for them.
There is so much parking on our street, so I don't understand why they would do this.

I believe it's not an offense to block access to your drive - but it is an offense if your blocked getting off it onto the road.

Yeah last time they blocked access and got a fine but now I have to deal with it myself.
But it don't seem like there is much that I can do accept wait.

Is there private company's I can employ to clamp them?

We all think this - but these are "friendly Neighbours" it will cause more problems than it's worth.

However if they burst their tyres on the nails you carelessly left on your drive whislt doing some DIY....

Tricky here because it's private land. a No parking sign and saying they would be clamped might do it - but then they could easily come back saying you damaged their vehicle etc...then you have no insurance...

Civil neighbor matters like this are always messy.

I'd stay polite for now, and see what happens, if they do block you getting off your drive then you have them.

get a friend to come round and visit, and park their car in a way that stops the other car getting out

then say the person who has the keys has gone out when they knock

Get Hubby to go to a local auction and buy the one car with MOT and tax which goes for a cheap price (say under £100), leave it a few streets away then one night, have a night out on the way home drop hubby at car b, get him to drive it back and park it over their drive.

Then walk off and meet you at the end of your street head off, have a beer or something and then come home and park on your drive. With their car blocked in by some nasty person ;)

Car B should be purchased using the name and address of said neighbour and by cash ;)
