The Great Declutter Part 2

Hi Everyone

Well, the decluttering continues, with some of us being much more successful than others (me) :o and MoneyMaker has suggested a new thread for the new year. Perhaps some clever person could link this one to the old thread please.

Anyway, maybe 2010 will be year when I finally get decluttered, but don't hold your breath :D

Good luck to everyone, and a very Happy New Year

  • I think I'm going to join in the 2010 decluttering. I have no end of stuff on my shelves and in my wardrobe, and I'm sure better use can be made of it than currently is. Mind if I join in?

I'm keen on this idea but have so much junk, I feel overwhelmed.

Before I saw this thread, I'd made my first attempt to sell something on ebay only to have one of the three items I auctioned not turn up and I hadn't got proof of postage so had to refund... this has demotivated me somewhat!

Can anyone point me in the direction of some basic tips on where to start. I have used Freecycle a lot in the past but think quite a bit of my stuff has some value so would like to sell it if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi all, can i join please? I did start early last yr but got side tracked with result that i haven't even got room in the loft for the boys xmas pressies, let alone their cupboards! Determined this yr will be the yr i get organised, i'm sure if i get the house in order it'll help me get the finances in order too(at least i'll be able to find all the paperwork anyway!) Deb

Well, as I'm now totally fed up of having to step OVER things just to get into the doorways of various rooms, I think it's about time I joined in too.

My two main problems are having moved from a 7-bedroom, 4-reception room house, all of whose rooms were HUGE into a 5-bedroom, 2-reception room COTTAGE, all of whose rooms are small (we wanted more land) AND the fact that I run a Rainbow unit, so have loads of stuff for them at home because I lost my storage in the church hall AND I do the Gift Aid for the church so have to keep all those records at home until I've got enough to warrant a box in the archive room at the church AND my husband never throws anything away and also runs a business from home.

OK, so those are my four main problems. Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition, after all...

As I'm off work, I'm going upstairs now to have a good "go" at what is laughingly called my sewing room, only I can't do any sewing in it because it is full to overflowing with CR4P. To get into this room, I have to step over a pile of sleeping bags which my DH has just pulled out of the bottom of the airing cupboard because they were resting on the pipes. Not sure where they're going to go yet, then...

Wish me HUGE amounts of luck, and I'll wish you all the same! Good luck, everyone!

Same. I need to go through all of our stuff and bin a lot of it - our things are either worth keeping or binning. There's no in between of sell/charity shop.

OH and I both work full time and it's difficult finding the hours in the day. I'd love to join, but I have no idea where to start!

OOhh! Lovely new shiny thread for 2010!

I spent most of 2009 decluttering all paperwork (shredder and recycling), tat (ebay/bin) and clothes (ebay/charity shop/bin).

Worked well and decluttering is about 2/3's completed now.

Plan for this week is to get rid of one broken wardrobe and anything else I can from the spare room.

This years plan is to declutter the shed and cellar as these are the hotspots left to tackle and to continue decluttering via ebay as much as possible
