Hi, this is the Daily Thread for five days before Christmas 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Greetings everyopne. I guess it's going to be busy today. I am off to Tesco and Lidl soon to get a big party shop and last minute foods. The nice thing is, it's cold out there and so my garage becomes a nice fridge/chiller for the Christmas. All the stuff that should be rammed in the fridge can go out there.
I have a big party tonight, so it's going to be a busy day of prep and then lots of social and fun tonight...
Hope you all have a good one too

Good morning all!
Very festive here. DH finished w*** yesterday (and says thank you for all your best wishes  ). He's off to collect our tree today :xmastree: , then we'll decorate it once it gets dark, with a glass of something festive and carols on the CD. Children trimmed the mantel pieces yesterday, and they look beautiful. DH will also get our wreaths up (he started them with greenery from the garden last weekend) and a load of holly and ivy around the place. I've treated us to some new ribbons too.
I'm off to collect the turkey, so should get thet stuffed and into the pantry, so that we'll have the weekend free to enjoy ourselves. Anyone seen "Flushed Away"? That's what we fancy seeing tomorrow, then traditional beach cricket at Bridlington on Sunday.
Jan, how was the York panto? Was it Berwick Kaler? We've not seen him for a couple of years, but have a plan to go next year with a friend from the Caribbean, who's never been to panto. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, no she hasn't :rotfl: :rotfl:
AAaarrgghh! Listening to Radio 4 about "toxic poisoning of penguins"........
Had a lovely evening having supper with a friend. She's cooked thai green chicken, which was delicious.
Finishing my cake today, and making mince pies with the children. My veg and fruit boxes were delivered late last night by Farmaround, just as I was going out. They look lovely, so I need to get them into the fridge.
Off to trim my sig.........:santa2: :rudolf: :xmassign: :xmassmile

Did this one year before. they were queuing to get in to the carpark at asda and somerfield was emptyStill have a few odds and ends to buy and all the presents to wrap. Want to get it all done tomorrow so I can sit with my feet up on sunday.

Grannybroon (hugs) to you and your friend. So sorry about yesterday, I must've cross posted with you.
I didn't get the shopping done yesterday, but the lists are now all drawn up so I'll be off this morning after dropping the boys.
First of all I have to contact CCCS at 8am as when I gave my details online yesterday re the debt management plan the computer froze on the wrong house no (took a neighbours address) and I think it's sent it!!!!! I do hope I can stop anything being sent to a neighbours - I don't particularly want everyone knowing about my debt.
It's the boys last day in school today so Christmas can officially begin - Yipee!!! I watched a lovely programme on tv a week or so ago (what the world needs now) and it was a really good reminder of what Christmas should really be about. I might not be able to buy the boys loads this year or in future years, but what we've got is a lot of love for each other and that can't be bought. I'm really blessed to have my three boys and as money is the biggest of our worries we're all really blessed as there are much worse things that happen to people all around us.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas,

Morning OSers :santa2:
The chaos that is Christmas is about to descend on our household. DD1 was flying home for the holidays from London  . Ha!!! No chance - so OH might have to go and collect her on Sunday.
Christmas Lunch numbers have settled at 10. My father has decided to stay longer than the 2 days he's invited himself for (he lives within walking distance of our house) Longer than 3 nights and I'm leaving home. He rang yesterday to tell me he's feeling very mentally fragile at the moment, so if we could all keep very quite whilst he's here:( So he'll be spreading his Chritmas joy throughout the family
We had a lovely time skating the other day.
DS1 wouldn't get dressed properly. Gloves, scarves and jumpers are just "ghey" (his words, not mine  ) so he froze his bum off waiting for his sister and her pals to finish. As you can imagine my heart bled for him
Feeling rather stressed at the moment - mainly because my Dad could ruin everything for the kids this Christmas. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that he's being very selfish. When there are kids in the household then the festivities are mainly for them. This'll be the last year I'll be doing the full Father Christmas fantasy for DD2(9). She's still a believer, even at that age, but she's beginning to have doubts. I think that my Dad drinking on top of his medication and shouting at the kids to keep quite is beyond bad manners.
Is it too late to put myself up for adoption?
Have a good day everyone.

Morning Guys!
Hope you are all well.
Not feeling very very well today. Think I have a head cold and feel !!!!!!, but I had the flu jab yesterday and could be a side effect from this.
Cleaner here today. House is tidy so just gnereal cleaning to be done. 2 washloads to do also.
Think I will be resting up. We have family around tomorrow for dinner and the Asda shop is due this afternoon-so no real rest for the wicked:D OH is taking DD out to do a bit of Xmas shopping or bargain hunting:rolleyes:
Cant stop too long as my head is spinning. Hugs to all.
Breakie: Bacon & Egg
Lunch: Baked Spud, ham and salad
Dinner: Shepards Pie, Cabbage and carrots
