Thanks for all the suggestions for my ham and potato bake - think I'm going to go to the shop and see if I can get some Worcestershire sauce. If not, think I'll go with beans.
miss_independent - I like the sound of that pasta bake! What's your recipe?
Hope the Ham and Potato Bake was nicer for you today Rebster!
Oh my, the pasta bake was INCREDIBLE if I do say so myself!
It was a recipe I made up. I'm one of those people who chucks a bit of this that and the other in and see how it goes and on this occasion it was successful.
This is roughly what I did;
CHILLI BACON PASTA BAKE
(Serves 4) Syns - 0 if using Cheese as HeA. Add 5.5 syns if not using Cheese as HeA
300g Dried Fusilli Pasta (or Penne)
1 Chopped Red Onion
1 Chopped and De-Seeded Red Pepper
1 Chopped Courgette
2 Cloves of Garlic Minced
6 Rashers of Bacon, trimmed of fat and sliced into strips
1 tsp of Paprika
1tsp of Chilli Powder
1 tsp of Oregano
1 carton of Passata
114 g of grated Mature Cheddar
Salt and Pepper to taste
Method;
Preheat oven to 190 degrees.
Bring a pot of salted water to the boil, adding pasta and cooking as directed on packet.
Meanwhile, heat some Frylight to a saucepan. Add the garlic and saut! for 1 minute before adding the chopped vegetables. After 3 mins add the chopped bacon and spices/herbs.
Cook all, uncovered for 5 minutes or until bacon is cooked.
Add Passata and simmer on a low heat for 10 minutes. The vegetables should not be allowed to overcook or become mushy.
Add the drained pasta to the saucepan (you could reserve a little of the water used to cook the pasta and add this to the sauce). Check the seasoning, adding more chilli or other spices if needed. Stir well.
Transfer to an ovenproof dish, sprinkle with cheese and place in oven for 15 mins or until cheese is melted and the top starts to go crispy. If you want the top extra crispy, place under a grill.
I served mine with shredded cabbage, leek and carrots cooked with Frylight and mustard seeds. Really enjoyed my dinner tonight.
To echo what others have said, I definitely find losing weight harder now I'm 31 than I ever did in my twenties! I used to be able to easily lose half a stone in a week - now I'm luckily to lose a pound and yet I feel I eat much less than I used to.

Thanks miss_independent, think I'll try that next week
My dinner was a bit nicer tonight thanks to a large amount of Lee&Perrin's! It's a shame really as it looked lovely in the magazine! Only thing I can think is maybe I made it in too small a dish so the ingredients didn't get mixed up enough.
Today's menu:
B: bran flakes (HeB), strawberries
L: snack pot (3 syns), apple, plums, Clementinecheesy ham and potato bake (6 syns), apple
S: 2 alpen light bars (6 syns), fruitopolis yoghurt (0.5 syns), milk (heA)
Total syns - 15.5 - bit annoying as miscalculated, would have had a regular mullerlight instead of the fruitopolis if I'd realised. Not going to get too hung up over a half syn though, especially as I'm always usually under on syns. Do feel like I've eaten rather a lot today though...0 -

Yes that's fine Shala_Moo! I feel famous lol, hope other people enjoy it as much as I did.
Best of luck to everyone who is struggling. I know it can be very tough at times.
I'm a bit nervous that everything is going to go to pot after my next counselling session. I usually end up binging as I comfort eat and give myself a free pass to do whatever makes me feel good in the moment. I'm trying to make a plan in advance. I usually go to a cafe and have one of those special coffees with a fattening dessert or meal - last week I had a huge roast beef and onion toastie with coleslaw, a large mocha and a millionaires shortbread for example.
There is a Subway on the same street as the place I go to so I thought I could get a turkey and ham salad without dressing, use my HeA milk allowance for a skinny coffee and take a chocolate bar (possibly a Galaxy Ripple for 9 syns) to have with it. That way I'll feel like I've had a treat... What do you all think? As I said in my first post, for a long time food has been the only thing which made me feel happy albeit only temporalily. I feel if I could overcome comfort eating I wouldn't have any problems with my weight. Any tips would be gratefully received if those on here have managed to stop comfort eating.0 -
Great to see a loss, Arkers, orlao, dillon (hope you’re better soon) and Daisy.
No, not any easier to visit my friends at all, lol, shala. They both live in different towns from each other and from my village. I’m just happy that I am able to do it.
