After several letters chasing Jet2 for compo, in the most recent letter they have stated "manufacturers defective part" as stated on CAA website as extraordinary circumstances. How can we find out if it was a manufacturers defective part or not ??0
-
Quite simply it's very unlikely to be, first of all read Vaubans excellent guide, then check the flight with a popular NWNF solicitors see if they say you have a valid claim, then either issue an NBA or hand it over to the NWNF.
Good luckAfter reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

You don't need to find out .... they are trying it on. Read Vauban's Guide .... eventually ..... enjoy your compensation.

"manufacturers defective part" doesn't really mean anything. It's only an EC if it's a Hidden Manufacturing Defect, i.e. something wrong with the manufacture of a part that has been discovered on the flight and affects other aircraft using the same part and that the operator could not have foreseen, i.e. not previously documented by the manufacturer, or in an AD or SIB from the EASA.
This will also be documented in an MOR (Mandatory Occurrence Report) that the airline has to submit to inform the CAA. And the manufacturer would also need to be informed.
If it's just a defective part, it doesn't count, unless they can demonstrate the above. Parts fail, and all parts are manufactured, and just because it has been manufactured doesn't mean it's a Hidden Manufacturing Defect.
I would say it's almost certainly a fob off and if you start a claim in court you will get the true story. Otherwise, as others have said, try a NWNF, they'll tell you straight away.0 -

Denied Boarding
I have just heard back from Botts to say the airline has filed a defence on my file advising they called for volunteers to surrender their reservations etc.........this defo did not happen, I was informed at the check-in desk that I would not be boarding the flight and 2 alternative flights were offered, both much later than the flight I had booked. I am so angry with the lies that Jet2 sprout!!!!!
Has anyone else been denied boarding by Jet2??
Thanks0 -
Not heard that one before! I should relax - I'm sure a Court would raise its eyebrow or even both eyebrows and ask for evidence e.g. a signed waiver from the passengers concerned. Since you didn't sign one, no problem.0
