In that case, all the passengers who fought for their rights to be acknowledged have my thanks too. I suppose this is how case law works.0

Very true, and also what saddens me is the many injustices that passengers suffered in the early years before the Courts and DJ's fully understood EC261.
There have been a few on here, that have lost in Court to the might of the Birds representing Jet2 and the battle still isn't over with the ever increasing manufacturers defect excuses peddled by those airlines, still spitting blood at the Supreme Courts decision and the recent Van der Lans jugement.
It's not over yet, for many.

Wrote to Jet2 giving them all details except our booking confirmation as I didn't have it. Did copy and paste line from my bank statement giving them date purchased. Their reply actually gave me the booking confirmation number which meant I could them log on to "manage my booking" and reprint boarding passes. Everything they asked for is now on it's way to them.
We'll see how it goes.0 -

Returned home from work this afternoon to find an envelope through the door containing a cheque for Sterling equivalent of 1200 Euro! That's after several letters back and forth with the usual Jet2 stuff about extraordinary circumstances. Looks like they've reached the end of the road. Hoping they can afford it and don't go bust before our trip to Lanzarote!0

It seems Jet2 (and others) are routinely paying out these days, except for me. I must be one of the last still in court. It certainly feels like it.0

Yeah, congratulations on an easy win to honest215
@howticklediam - looks like it's just you they don't like my friend lol
It has always been quite strange the grief some of us have had, where others have been paid without even starting court action.
I think the difference is just simply down to timing, if J2 have already instucted the birds to fight the case, come what may, that seems to be where it ends..... Like yours, whereas if it's a new case just brought to them, they may try it on with the usual EC letter but then quickly make payment on the receipt of a NBA?
I must admit I thought your case had been sorted, last I heard they got a set aside and you were in negotiations for settlement, I guess you couldn't and are now awaiting yet another Court date?

Just had an email from Bott & Co:Congratulations! We're delighted to tell you that the airline has agreed to settle your claim!
This is for a claim regarding the following flight:
Passengers: 2
Flight: Jet 2 LS642 Alicante to East Midlands scheduled to depart 11.15 on 20/12/2013 and to arrive E. Mids. at 13.05. Failed to depart.
Replacement flight departed Alicante 19.41 on 20/12/2013, arriving E. Mids. 21.37, a delay of 8 hours 28 minutes.
Scheduled flight length: 1610km.
Claim is for €800.
I had started my own claim against Jet2 and got as far as the Small Claims Court, which case was set aside. I then passed the case on to Bott & Co as I got bogged down in the reams of "evidence" supplied by 2Birds. So just waiting for Jet2 to pay up.
Thanks to all on here for their continued help. :T0 -
Well done Wombat! Pray tell us why the claim was 'set aside' by the Court originally? Knowledge is power..0
