I don't think that will work as well as you might hope.

The only thing you can enter into a Windows Setup is a Product Key. But many (?all) Windows 10 devices that were upgraded from an earlier version seem to share the same Product Key (for a given edition). I'm pretty sure that key won't activate on its own in a clean install, unless you've already activated that hardware before with Windows 10, in which case you can just skip entering the product key anyway.

My Win 10 laptop has a shortcut in the control panel "BACKUP AND RESTORE WINDOWS 7" - I am assuming that this should read "BACKUP AND RESTORE YOUR ORIGINAL WINDOWS INSTALLATION" ?
Because, whilst I do prefer Win 7 to Win 8 - Win 8.1 is my original OS !!

That's to access the menu to do (and restore) a full system image ;) it's a legacy thing and was also in 8 and 8.1. It's not to roll back the upgrade from 10 to your original OS.
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

There's another update coming soon, possibly next week. The last one was a 'cumulative' update, the new one coming will be 'Service Release 1' (SR1)..

This will be the one with the DVD playing software to go some way to replace Media Centre and a few other little tweaks yes?

No, the DVD player is available in the store now, for those that want it.
Free to those that had Media player versions of Windows previously around £12 for others. It only Plays DVD's at the moment, not sure if they intend to ramp up the functionality in the future. Seems a lot of money just for a player.
    VLC is free, for all
