Don't think it matters. All that really matters is that they believe you will leave.

Sky seem to be handing out 60% off any TV package for 12 months at the moment, but you do have to cancel and let the cancellation go through. Trust me, you will only be without Sky for 24 to 48 hours, but you will potentially save yourself hundreds of £. I know a few people who cancelled. On Day 32, they went on to webchat and half an hour later they were back up and running with 60% off for 12 months.

    Hi chaps

We have Sky TV and they gave us 3 months half price Sports and Movies which runs out in a week or so.

We are also tied in until September with the BB and phone. We got free BB and I paid up front last year for the phone.

I know I can get free BB with Sky Sports but I think there's an 18 month contact tie in and we're thinking of moving house so don't really want to be tied in for too long (if it all).

    1. Am I correct BB and TV are completely seperate?

    2. Any suggestions what might be the best option (doesn't have to be Sky) for BB/Phone.

Called a different operator later the same day & got exactly what I wanted no problem.

I never knew this, I thought I read that Sky noted on your account each time you called and a summary of the reason for your call? (They often say while on the line please wait while I put a note on your account) Surely if this is true and they`ve seen you`ve called more than once attempting to get a deal this weakens your bargaining power.

There is little more than anecdotal evidence of any of what you said there. All that is known for sure (and is repeated over and over in this thread) is that the best deals go to those who cancel and mean it.
"Bargaining power", doesn't really come into it. Sky don't want people to leave and so they offer incentives to those who give notice.

They do - you can check it yourself on your profile (Under ongoing issues or similar) - it usually just says "discussed account - no action" or similar.

It has worked for me in the past.
You are not limited to the number of times you can call, so, if you don't like what's offered try again!

I remember once I got a Welshman who offered nothing, later, a Scots girl, who, sorted me out in 5 mins - just your Donald Duck!!

Totally: TV is separate, however, it is usually best to keep ph & BB together.

EE via quidco offers £130 cashback for the phone if you pay 12 months upfront @ £132 = virtually free!!

Then £2.50 pcm for the BB

So, phone & BB for £32 for the year - not to be sniffed at!
  • Just had an email, from Sky, offering 20% off TV(excluding HD & multiroom), for the next 8 months, provided I sign up for another 12 months.
I'm not going to sign up, though, as I'm already on 50% off deal and the new deal has to replace any existing offer.

Update. So Following on from cancelling Sky which was due to go off on 29/7/14 I noticed I'd had a couple of missed calls to the home phone from 08009159081. Quick google revealed it was Sky Marketing on similar. No further calls and Sky cancelled. Thinking I'd missed the window for a deal I did a web chat to ask why they'd been trying to contact me? Was told it was most likely to give me an offer to come back. Was offered £5 off my multiroom for 12 months so said no thanks.

About 30mins later received an email inviting me to come back with a link which took me to 'my sky' offers. Pleased to see a 50% off for 12months offer. Went on love chat and haggled a £20 account credit and replacement box as well. Not quite 50% as the multiroom fee and HD fee isn't included in the offer apparently, or at least not for me. Ended up upping my package to include sports and still saw a healthy saving over what I had before so I'm happy.

    Hi Peco141

Come back to Sky and get an exclusive 50% off Sky TV for 12 months.

Just got off the phone with sky and the CS lady said they currently have an offer on the HD pack. £1 for 12 months but you have to take a new 12 month contract. I imagine this will only help those who recently got 12 months 1/2 price.

I got mine at the start of june so its not worth it for me to be stuck with full price sky for over 2 months as that would wipe out any savings I'd make on this deal but it could help others. If anyone manages to get this offer without the new 12 month contract please post in the thread.
