Is there a comprehensive list of companies that allow print at home tickets, or tickets that can be held in electronics wallets?Fred Bloggs0

Hello, not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes...
Only for people who live in a London borough, are aged 60or over and do not qualify for a freedom pass....
I found this on The TFL website for my husband who recently turned 60. He has to get two buses each way to work at a cost of £4.40 per day/ £22 per week/ £1144 per year.
TFL have a 60+ Oyster card that costs £10 for a year and then all travel on any TFL mode of transport is free. This will save my husband a minimum of £1134 per year and more as he can use it at any time.
It's not very well publicised so I hope this link works... https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/25830.aspx or look for 60+ London.0 -
REDSPOTTEDHANKY - Brilliant!! I didn't know much about them before, and have always searched National Rail, Trainline and individual Networks' sites.
As I have to use internet on my mobile, I was having trouble going from link to link with most sites, but Redspottedhanky was different; it took me directly to all fares in order that I could pick the cheapest FARE, then choose the train times, etc, (rather than keep inputting different dates, days and times).
I based my search on the main City stations - Exeter to Brighton, returning approx a week later. After finding quite cheap rates, by buying two SINGLE tickets, as opposed to one return, I then added on Exmouth to Brighton, (where I knew a single ticket from Exmouth to Exeter, and back, would be cheap anyway). To my amazement, the two single tickets suddenly became even CHEAPER, although further!!
I did try to add the final sort leg of Brighton to Newhaven on, as part of the whole route/fare, which first came up as about £70 extra(!!), then just the same amount more as that journey is on a daily basis. As I couldn't guarantee my arrival time in Brighton, etc, I won't purchase that short leg until I reach there.
Now, the best bit - the TOTAL fare for each single journey from EXM-BTN & BTN-EXM was £13.30 EACH!!!
(Okay, they are slightly longer journeys than I would have preferred, but to take the alternative route(s), times, it works out approx £30 per hour more, each way, that is, the cost to me if I wanted to have a slightly shorter journey/route!)
If that's not enough - there were no booking fees, no card charges and no postal charges - AND the tickets arrived within 24 hours!
I couldn't ask for better service (- which these days is a rarity).
Also, thank you to MSE for giving me the other sites to try.0 -

If you travel regularly and know your dates or you can book well in advance telephone the booking line. You will first get a message telling you you can book tickets up to a date with the exception of... Then they tell you the dates you cannot book for. Wait until those dates are releasewd and you can get tickets from anywhere to anywhere usually for £10 each way but you have to be quick.
I you can book well in advance and have a Discount Card why not ask if you can book Off Peak First Tickets. You have to travel on exact trains but the price you pay is often cheaper than ordinary Standard Ticket costs. However, just think about not having to worry about drunks, kids running all over the place. You get nicer seats in a less crowded carriage and free tea and coffee in real cups with saucers and teaspoons, refills every half hour or so, fruit juice or mineral water. If you travel between certain times you get free afternoon tea (sandwiches) or a light lunch/dinner. If you wanted all of that in Standard Class you'd pay an absolute fortune.0 -
Just thought should offer my pennyworth. Was going to book a ticket on Trainline but noticed £ 1.50 charge and the ticket was same price on East Coast with no charge for C.card

You show the OxfordTube prices as if they are a special deal, when these are in fact the normal fares.
The X90 service operated by Oxford Bus Company has the same fares, and operates a slightly different route via Baker Street instead of Shepherds Bush

This thread is six years old, I think it's safe to assume that the deals have finished and that prices have changed.0
