    Thanks ladies :o

On a completely unrelated note... I signed up for Amazon family at the end of December and it said I'd get a voucher code for the Lamaze foot finder and hand rattles set, but I've never had an email or anything with a code in...? Can anyone shed any light?

Hey BZ, I'm very far behind in the thread and will probably find this has been answered as I read on, but thought I'd post anyway. I also signed up and did receive my email with the code for the freebie. It came through on Sunday.

Have you already gone in to cancel it in 3 months time to avoid charging as I think that might make you ineligible. I haven't gone in yet to say "no thanks" to the auto renewal. I'll pm you the code I got though and you can always try it.... :)

PS - You had to sign up between the 18th & 24th Dec and not have cancelled by the 3rd Jan.

Edited - Glad you got your code in the end :)

I have a new symptom, pregnancy related carpal tunnel syndrome....what joy! I think it's only occasional (well I hope it is) but it's a horrid ache down the inside of my arm/s into my hand. Apparently it's due to the extra fluid putting pressure on the nerve in our wrists. Something to talk to the midwife about tomorrow but I don't think there's much the can do. Anyone else notice they have this or been wondering if they slept funny on their arm or hand?

I suffered very badly from this in my last pregnancy and it got so bad, I lost all feeling in my fingertips and would wake up in the morning with my fingers frozen shut! Go see the gp and they can give you some wrist straps to wear overnight. They do help a bit, but in reality, there's nothing else that can be for carpal tunnel excluding operations if it's still an issue after your pregnancy..... Thankfully mine went soon after the birth but I can feel it coming back slowly in this pregnancy too (26+4 today)....

faithope, wow, your little man is doing well in there! Stick to your guns, you've got every right to request an elective section, and from what I've heard the consultants are getting a lot better at actually listening to the mothers now.

Would definitely agree with this. My consultant was very open that I do indeed have a choice if I want elective section this time around as I had one before.....

........ Now the group have to start arranging our own get togethers and I wondered if anyone here had any ideas? Apart from a pub or coffee shop, can anyone think of a good first get together for 16 people that isn't too noisy and we can mingle well?

We picked a quiet-ish restaurant and for us it was a caf! rouge. We had a few catch ups before all the babies arrived seeing as most of the ladies were finished work. All the babies were born only a few weeks apart, so we all were at the same stage more or less.... Maybe somewhere like a Beefeater or Brewers Fayre pub - they'll happily serve you just coffee and are bigger than say costa coffee to fit you all in.......

I had my 24w MW appointment today (23+2) and she asked me when I was planning on finishing work. I told her 4 weeks before my EDD and she said in her 20 years experience, she thinks I'm being ambitious and said she'd be thinking more along the lines of 6 weeks prior.

Can I ask if any of your MW have said the same and when did/are you going on Mat leave (inc any holiday time before hand)

I finished 2 weeks before my EDD for my first baby and had a week of putting my feet up before he arrived. I plan to finish 2 weeks before this time too. I work in an office so it's easy work, close to home and I can even work from home if none of my clothes fit by then :rotfl:

When does the measuring start? I've not had anything like that although my 28 week appointment is coming up so perhaps then.

Had my first one at my 25w midwife appointment..... :)

You're officially a boldie now, BZ!

Ps I think it was you who mentioned the movement that was probably baby hiccups. I definitely had that this morning! Very cute although felt a bit sorry for her as I hate having hiccups!
I really am! Just hope the rest of the world doesn't realise too so I don't get even more mithered! :p

Dh used to get a bit upset when MiniZee first started getting hiccups, but once s/he got bigger and the kicks got less frequent the hiccup bouts became reassuring as a period of movement :p

Sleep. I would. Plus, I'm really confused why they've not told you you have to remain inactive for the 2 hours?? That's always been the case with the 3 or 4 (long story) I've had done - so your body doesn't metabolise the sugar drink differently and skew the result. They've always made me wait in the waiting room for the 2 hours...

I did get the email in the end, thanks. I just wasn't patient enough ;) I haven't cancelled anything yet cos I didn't want to waste my 3 month Prime trial and didn't know if I could set it to cancel at a later date..? I think I just put a reminder in my phone to do it in the end?

    40+1!

They said not to do anything vigorous, I said I was going to have a wonder around the shops and the nurse said that's okay just take your time etc. I've still got almost an hour and I'm finished wandering now lol. Will just sit in car park and read my kindle I think. I could go wait inside the hospital but too many distractions there

During my GTT we were encouraged to go away for the two hours. OH and I went and did a grocery shop before going back for the second blood test. I was just instructed not to eat or drink anything.

Kerri & Nickit - Good Luck. Hope things progress for you soon.

    BZ - :rotfl:You're a boldie:rotfl:
  • I was so lucky with my GTT, I was given the drink to have at home at 7.30am and then had the first appointment in the morning with my MW who took my bloods at 9.30 = cam home had breakfast and then onto work. So not too much messing around and waiting at hospital although I have friends that have spent ages hanging around waiting for theirs.

Most nursery's use just cotton wool and water Lush in case of sensitive skin so claire's spot on with suggesting it. A load of cheap face cloths or a cut up towel make wonderful wipes too. No chemicals and very MSE.

We used Huggies Cotton Sheets for the first 5-6 weeks for our first. They were a great alternative to cotton wool and just like baby wipes. Just dip in water and use as a baby wipe. Will buy these again this time around..... My son came out in a rash with both huggies pure wipes and the green pampers packs. We had to use only the white pampers ones (sensitive) and you get 8 less wipes in those compared to the green packs. Not very mse....... :(

Link for the huggies sheets. You can get them in the supermarket and easily for £1 a pack when on offer....

Finally caught up on the thread again :j

Has anyone bought the Rialto cot from Mamas and Papas - curious on what price you paid. It's £275 now (was £230-ish early Dec) and wondered what was a good price to pay for it...... Looking at the plain wooden one..... thanks ladies :)

  • Kerri - I believe that pumping (nipple stimulation) triggered a few of my contraction bursts, including the final set! Had he have been the right way and not stuck, he would've been 2.5wks early, not a week late!

Twigpig - we use the huggies cotton sheets too - exclusively for first few weeks. They were fab when Joshua caught a cold too - easier to wipe his nose with and soft enough not to hurt him.

Going to keep lurking until your gorgeous babies are out Kerri, BigZippy & nickit. Please don't forget to post pics for the rest of us. Try and enjoy labour - it's the most special thing in the world being handed your baby. Best wishes to you all for quick and healthy labours xxx
