    Seems a good deal.

Just seen a letter from flogas to all customers stating that orders for LPG may now take up to 30 days from order :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The RyanAir of the LPG industry.

By which I assume that you mean that they will soon be offering a "priority delivery service" for those who are prepared to pay a premium?

I would like to say that was a tongue-in-cheek comment, but I genuinely think Aunty Flo might just do such a thing :(

Just got off the phone with Mole Valley and MacGas (BPLPG)

    Last 12 months we used 5000+ ltr's

    MV was .41p/ltr +vat

MG was .4595/ltr +vat fixed for 9 months then variable .4595 but no more than 2.5p rise in any 6 months.....
Unless they can justify the price increase due to bulk price increase....

I know MV is probably the way to go but they don't fix prices!!

    Any thoughts chaps?

    Thanks

Just been informed that next fill will be at 52.5p (inc vat), up from 47.5p.
Just had notice of yet another price increase from from those poor people at FLO-Gas who are finding it hard to make ends meet, my new price is to be .65 pp litre, a rise of .7 ppl Another few pence and my price will have doubled in about four years, wish the pension would do the same! I didn't sign a contract with them this time because I wasn't sure of the legal position re purchasing from other suppliers, am I free to shop around? I remember some time ago the goverment were trying to alter the monopoly position, can anybody put me straight on the current position as I feel these companies are running some sort of competition to see who can get away with the highest prices!
  • My gas price in early 2010 was 22.76ppl !!

Here is a plot of Platts, ANSI, Extra Fuel and Cardiff Gas prices over the past 2 years (i.e. one contract period).

For those seething about current price increases, it seems pretty clear to me that taking the period as a whole, there is little justification for any supplier to have imposed anything much more than RPI increases to cover increased overheads and delivery costs during this period!

For sure, prices did shoot up earlier this year: as we all know - suppliers were quick enough to pass that on; but where are the corresponding price falls over summer? And yet now that wholesale prices are rising once again, some suppliers seem to think they can use this as justification to inflate their prices still further.

I think anyone receiving a big price hike right now should waste no time in writing to their supply company and demanding that the company gives full justification for all price increases imposed during their contract period. They should also make it crystal clear that if they do not receive satisfactory justification, they will be contacting their MP and the OFT to make a formal complaint about the matter.

Yes you can shop around and seeing as you are free from auntie flo it would definitely be a good move, however be aware that you are likely to be buying in to a new supplier at the most expensive time.
  • I am in the Scottish Borders and am at the end of my contract with Flogas. It goes without saying that I need to find a new supplier. I use circa 4000 litres per year. It seems that my options are: Mac Gas (was BP I think), Johnston Oils, Calor, Avanti or Flogas. Johnston Oils appear helpful and have offered 42p/litre fixed for 6 months. I'd really appreciate views on experiences of these companies and what is a good deal for this part of the country. Thanks in advance.

Remember Macgas is now owned by Flogas not BP

    Welcome to the forum.

I guess you've used the UKLPG list of its members (here) to get your possible suppliers (Johnston Oils, Calor, Avanti and Flogas/MacGas/BP). There may be non-UKLPG suppliers as well (e.g. Extra Fuel) and a farmers' buying group or two (e.g. Mole Valley Farmers). Useful post by HateLPG here (this also corrected some earlier misinformation by another forum user called SD-253 aka brandeberryj).

Several people have mentioned Johnston Oils (or J Gas, its LPG side) so I suggest you use "Search this Thread" (just above the top post, on the right) and then send each a private message to ask how they've got on if they've taken a contract with Johnston Oil / J Gas. A forum user called bobhawke has made several useful posts from the Borders and may even get to post a reply to you on the forum.

Please let us know how you get on.
