Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

Both they are even robbing churches. Yes I certainly like the idea of my gas always being there. If I had oil the first thing I would do is check it is still there when I got back from a holiday.longforgotten wrote: »One good thing about LPG is that no one can nick it !
It would break my heart to have a big tank of oil only to have the oil nicked. This crime has become rife in some rural areas......or is it diesel that they're after
Anyway, I wonder if the oil is covered in house/contents insurance ?0 -
News on my cheap supplier (Energas 50.9p Litre including VAT 48.5p without VAT), they are changing there name to LPG DIRECT (Midlands). Not happy with there change of phone numbers though "Enquires and orders 08702 408048" I hate these 0870 numbers total rip off.0

They sell very well a mate put his oil one up a reanamled one and got around 2,500 for it and it was not a central heating one BUT the person who came to take it out(not the buyer) said he would have only paid 800 for it. Ebay saleilikecookies wrote: »(as they do at least look gorgeous) .
Yes but you do have to buy the tank and I reckon 60 a year is as good as buying a an oil tank. Remind me how much do they cost.ilikecookies wrote: »
1) Tank rental costs which obviously you don't have with oil.
I thought they were not allowed to do that anymore ie your contract had to have a maximum rise in it with a get out clause if you are unhappy with rise. Although I must admit i never saw the latter in mine but as they are the cheapest around did not seem any point in pointing that out to them!!ilikecookies wrote: »2) Contracts which tie you in and you have no choice but to accept price increases whereas with oil you can at least "shop-around" for the lowest price. In our first year with LPG Flogas increased the price 3 times on us over what was admittedly a bad winter - increasing from 39ppl up to 59ppl blaming cold whether each time. Maybe Flogas jaded me too much but after dealing with them I wanted off LPG as I just couldn't get round the fact of being saddled with one supplier and having the price dictated..
There not though as far as I cn make out you have to have the oil boiler serviced every year while I didn't have mine serviced for 3 years and the bloke who did it said there was real need to have it done that often although I had not used that often morover I get phone calls every year from the manufactures of offering to service for 60 pound which I think is very reasonable.[/QUOTE]ilikecookies wrote: »Well let's assume that servicing costs and boiler efficiencies are the same for both..
It is very rare for LPG to be cheaper maybe we are seeing a permanent closing of the gap as there has in the past much larger gap.ilikecookies wrote: »You're right that LPG needs to be 30% cheaper than oil for it to be cheaper to run. According to the Notts Energy Partnership's August data oil is marginally cheaper per kw/h than LPG (7.21 vs 7.62). In previous months the gaps in favour of oil had been much higher though (eg. June was 6.15 vs 8 for LPG!). This is one of the things I like about oil and having a big tank - I can fill up whenever the price is lower.0 -
Has anyone tried paying for LPG with a credit card? Forgot to try it this time. I normally take out a 0% card and use the card for every day spending and put the money I have spent on the credit card into a savings account.0

Just received an increase from Calor moving from 46.00ppl to 53.00ppl. Location Langdale Valley Cumbria.
The bills were already high but this price hike is pushing my limits.
Any advice?0 -

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and thought I'd join to express my sincere frustration with LPG!
Had new contract proposal through from Calor this week - I noticed in their terms and conditions that they are allowed to increase their prices by up to 3.5ppl every THREE months before I can terminate our contract. Does this sound right to anyone? I may be mistaken, and unfortunately haven't got my previous contract to hand, but it looks like they have only been increasing their prices every SIX months previously.
I have been offered 47.5ppl (with £50 account credit), and please forgive me if my maths doesn't work out, but if they increase by 3.5ppl every three months, by October 2014 I'll be paying 75.5ppl! That's a massive 28ppl increase in two years. When I looked back on this last two year's statements (Oct 2010 - Oct 2012) the total price went up by 14ppl. How much greedier can they possibly get? Does this mean from 2014-2016 they are hoping for their price increase to double again from 28ppl to 56ppl??!!! There may be trouble ahead..........
Anyone read their t&c recently, have any other companies changed the price increase frequency from 6 mths to 3 mths?0 -
Just been informed that next fill will be at 52.5p (inc vat), up from 47.5p.0

That's quite an increase in one go. Check your contract. I'm sure if its one of their standard contract, price increases should be 'capped' to 3.5ppl in any 3 month period.
If they have exceeded their contractual 'cap' you have the option to opt out of the contract and go to a new supplier. Alternatively, contact Calor and vent your wrath and try to get a better deal.
Good luck!0
