Tink - wedding plans are coming along ok, will probably get more of a wriggle on when it is a year to go. I am going wedding dress shopping sat though exciting!

Cinny - sounds like you did the right thing with your brother, as other said i hope it all works out in the end. Exciting about your sister!

CMD - that is really sad what happened with your brother and mum but glad things worked out in the end. Must have been really hard.

I'm another one who wishes people were more chatty at work. :) I'm a nosey so-and-so and like to know everyone's back story but they're all so impersonal in my office and the chat is confined mainly to work and the weather. Drives me mad! I've found a few people scattered around who are more willing to talk and have a laugh so I just kind of float around finding people to gossip with! :o There's going to be yet another desk move and I'm going to be switched from sitting opposite my manager to sitting next to her. Feel like I'm being moved to sit next to the teacher! :( She hardly ever talks about non-work stuff so I'm going to be so bored... and she'll be watching me work so I'll have to cut down on my interent time! Noooo! :o

That's a sad tale about your brother CMD but I'm glad it all turned out well in the end :)

Good news that you got some anti-biotics wendz, hope they work quickly! :)

Cinny so sorry to hear about the situation with your brother. I'm sorry it has come to this.

Tete can't offer any advice about your friend. I am also having friend issues at the moment but I really don't feel brave enough to say anything as I feel that people will think I'm being petty.

For all those who are at work by themselves or have no one to talk to can I offer up some gossip?? It'll be like our own little office ;)

this morning kiddies and I went into town and was on the bus on the way home. The bus stop we get off at is right outside the local shop. (we live in a very small village by the way) outside the shop was 4 police cars and loads of police swarming around. 2 even had guns like the ones on tv!!!!! turns out (after texting my friend who lives a few doors down from the shop, who text her mum who lives next door to the shop - told you we were a small village :rotfl: ) some guy had gone into the shop and had started waving a machete around! the dog unit was even down the park (behind the shop) looking for him! It felt like I was back living in Manchester!

We moved here for a quiet life and a safe environment to bring the kids up. ;)

Hey guys. Just an update and unfortunately not a good one. They got the results of Grace's lung biopsy back yesterday, and she's been diagnosed with Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia. It's a very rare disease which kills 99.9% of babies who have it within the first couple of weeks of life. So the fact she's made it so far and is showing no signs of going downhill is the good news - she's the rare type of the rare disease. However from here on it's a case of watch her and pray she stays strong. If the new lung tissue she grows is normal she may be able to live with it, if it is abnormal she will start to deteriorate. There is a chance of a lung transplant maybe when she's older, but only 2 have ever been successfully completed on babies with this condition. I've spent the last 24 hours in floods of tears, terrified we may loose her. Today the doctors have calmed me down a little, and told me just to enjoy each day we have with her, and hope for the best. So that's where we are, I can't begin to put into words how I'm feeling, so this post may come across as cold, but anyone and everyone pray that Grace grows strong lung tissue as she gets bigger and can be the miracle who makes it long enough to get new lungs.

Dinah I'm so sorry. No the post does not sound cold. And if it did who cares. My prayers are with the three of you.

How long does it take for new lung tissue to grow?

Please let us know if there is anything we can do. X

She's growing new tissue every day as she grows bigger, the assumption is she has a reasonable proportion of healthy tissue mixed with the non-functional stuff, hence how she can breathe on her own now. If the new stuff she grows is healthy, then she has a chance. Usually the non functional tissue is throughout all the lungs, but they think with her it's patchy, hence why she's still alive.

Oh Dinah, NIM - so sorry to hear this news. I don't know what to say. It's such a shock as she was doing so well. I can only echo the doctors and say enjoy her and try not to worry and stress about what may or may not happen. Massive hugs and loads of love xxx
