You guys really do not deserve the crap hand you've been dealt recently. :( Grace is such a fighter though, I have faith that she'll beat this, like everything else she's overcome in her life so far! She's already a miracle. :)

I shall send all of my prayers and wishes your way and I hope that she continues to defy the odds and grows healthy lung tissue. :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Hey guys. Just an update and unfortunately not a good one. They got the results of Grace's lung biopsy back yesterday, and she's been diagnosed with Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia. It's a very rare disease which kills 99.9% of babies who have it within the first couple of weeks of life. So the fact she's made it so far and is showing no signs of going downhill is the good news - she's the rare type of the rare disease. However from here on it's a case of watch her and pray she stays strong. If the new lung tissue she grows is normal she may be able to live with it, if it is abnormal she will start to deteriorate. There is a chance of a lung transplant maybe when she's older, but only 2 have ever been successfully completed on babies with this condition. I've spent the last 24 hours in floods of tears, terrified we may loose her. Today the doctors have calmed me down a little, and told me just to enjoy each day we have with her, and hope for the best. So that's where we are, I can't begin to put into words how I'm feeling, so this post may come across as cold, but anyone and everyone pray that Grace grows strong lung tissue as she gets bigger and can be the miracle who makes it long enough to get new lungs.

    Hi Dinah/Nim

I'm sorry to hear Grace has that disease. I will be praying for Grace and hope she grows strong lung tissue.

Thinking of you all at this awful time. Stay strong. Ebee

I don't even know what to say. I'm just so sorry, for little Grace, you two and your whole family. Like Birdie says, she's been such a tough cookie so far, and I can't help but believe she'll kick this problem right in the back side too :)

Will be keeping her in my thoughts, big hugs and stay strong for each other and Grace. She'll beat this x

Just been to see my doc, she has recommended that we ask them to send Grace's lung to another lab for a second opinion. I might be grasping at straws and firmly in denial here, but if there is a chance they come up with something different I'm going to jump at it. I know someone has to be the really rare form of the really rare disease, but does it have to be Grace?

I'm so sorry Dinah and NIM, sat in a public library trying not to get sniffly about your gorgeous girl. Definitely get a 2nd opinion if it's been suggested, I will be crossing my fingers it's a horrible mistake, and if not that she remains strong and fights all the way. Much love x

I am at a loss as to what to say.

I just want you to know that I am thinking of you all, and praying for you.

I just have 2 things to say. One is to cuddle little Gracie as much as you both can, and the other is that miracles happen every day

I'm so sorry to hear this Dinah, I am not a religious person but I will think about Gracie and send positive vibes. My only advice is to take every day as it comes. xxx

I am so sorry to hear this news. Can't even begin to think what you are going through. Sounds like she has done amazingly so far and she has come so far I have full faith that she will continue to go from strength to stregnth. In the meantime do as CMD said and cuddle her as much as you can xx
