hello everybody. happy sunday to one and all.
ive just had a little row with one of mr bransons people on the phone. theiving toads tried to charge me £25 interest and remove my % and give me a late payment fee. admittedly it was one day late but i pay it on the day i get paid every single month and they can see that from my previous statements.
they initially offered me 9% interest to continue and the charges to stand but i was insistent and after speaking to a manager its all back to normal with my payment date also changed to a few days later. mr b is not getting my money.
im happy about that but still fed up with how damn slow it is to pay of this debt.
i need to make a payment this month of £613 to cover stuff ive spent and this months payment which will leave me £200 to feed the 3 of us for the month. it will be tight but it can be done.
i literally cannot wait until this is over. now off to look at second jobs again xxx0 -
Hi all, here’s my EPIC post...
Firstly, I have noticed in a couple of signatures that you’ve given up smoking. I’ve never smoked myself but know quite a few people who have tried (sometimes several times) to give up and have found it very difficult. I just want to say a huge congratulations to you for giving up smoking. You are definitely making your lives better by doing it xxx
Kc26 – I’ll have to have a look at the grocery challenge cos I’m really struggling to stick to mine at the mo!
Starnac – don’t worry, I think we’ve all had that weird moment of changing from dreading the cc bill to actually sitting by the door waiting for it so we can pay some off! How times have changed!
Karrie2129 – well done on your payment of £245, it’s a brilliant amount!
Choclover – you’re 1/3 of the way through now!!! I know how you feel about keeping to a budget, it’s sooooo hard to do.
Bonglecat – I think we’ve all been there, trying to live up to the life we think that people expect. Most of the time though they are in serious debt trying to keep up too, just continuing the vicious cycle where very young children are now under pressure to have all the “right” things otherwise they get bullied. What a stupid stupid society we live in. “things” don’t matter, only health and happiness matters.
Jakes-mum – Yay!!! Glad your DD got in the school you wanted. I cannot even believe you were having a debate about whether to pay off your debts your way of the OH’s! As if he has any say in the finances!!!
MrsNoMoney – EVERY payment is a huge achievement for us DFW’s! You need to celebrate each payment no matter how big or small. It takes you one step every closer to being debt free. Good luck on your exam hun and I hope you haven’t spent the entire bank holiday weekend so far revising!
Antonia1 – when’s your last day at work?
Hiss Missus – fab news on your sainsbug gain!
Barbeduk – I love any updates of payments no matter how small so get posting them! Yay, your target of end of July is less than 2 months away!!! Ahhhh so you’re doing the VSP by rounding down to the nearest £10. There is a fantastic challenge thread on the forum for this and gets very addictive! What was so bad about the savers thread...? Spill the beans!
Spagbol – I love how much you’re chipping away at that CC!
Minicooper272 – blimey, 400 miles to reduce your overdraft cos you have to go into the branch...? !!!!!!?! Which bank are you with hun?
Affordmylife – you’re welcome my dear, thank you for posting! Any news on any more jobs yet?
CW2 – Bl00dy hell! £1500/month?! That is EPIC!!! Just shows how much we have frittered away in the past... Well done!
Mrs Addicted to Spending – how did your exam go? (or has it not happened yet?) Hopefully you’ve already had it so not had to spend your bank holiday revising!
Amy83 – Come on girl, you’re only £112 off owing less than £5000!!!! Kick this debt booty!
Shrewbie – Welcome to the team! How are you feeling hun?
EyesWideOpen – it’s so motivating when you make a big payment as it spurs you on!
KissyKissyKaren41 – Just noticed in your signature that you’ve lost 6st 5lbs!!! How on earth have you done this???????????????????
BrandNewStart – Hope you’re feeling a bit more positive today!
Vw campervan mum – OMG you are sooooo close to 50%!!! 0.4% to go and you’re there! When’s your birthday hun? I seem to remember you said it was in May...
Avogirly – Can’t wait until the 10th then to update your big payment and well done for sending off to see if you can get a PPI rebate. I’m still waiting on mine...
Mrsyallop – oh no, they’ve got to you too with their OCD-ness... ;o)
Floridafairy – I did something similar once but was going from brunette to blonde so tried a pre-lightener...Oh dear go... Pumpkin is NOT the word! I ended up having to go to a hairdressers to get brown put it to disguise the mess and was told I couldn’t then dye it for AT LEAST 12 months as my hair could drop out! Never been so scared in my life! I’ve kept my hair brown for several years now as I begrudge paying the hairdressers more than a tank of fuel!
Kerfuffle – how are you doing hun? You’ve been a bit quiet lately and I’ve been a bit worried about you... x
Katiec950 – SUPERB!!!!!!! I am soooooo pleased for you Katie!
Lemonpopsicle – I have to admit that I dropped out of all the “pots” challenges as I am paying every penny off my debts so didn’t see the point in putting something in a tub when it could go on a debt. Can’t wait until 2013 though when I can start saving with gusto! Oh and you’re welcome about running the thread. It’s you guys who make it awesome! Yay being over 50%!!! I’m soooo jealous...
Kerri_dfw – I agree it is very irresponsible of them and something should be done on a national level to stop companies from just increasing credit limits without being asked as it keeps people in debt (I know that’s why they do it) but it is not fair on the consumer! It’s like bringing bottles of vodka round to an alcoholic or heroin to an addict. It’s so unfair cos spending can be an addiction. I’ve noticed you’ve not been yourself recently, I hope you’re ok. Just make sure the move to Bristol is what YOU want. x
Jo84 – well done on your first payment, it’s the beginning of a brilliant journey!
Ruthy1604 – wow you are now over the 25% paid off mark! Fab milestone!
Tirlittan – good to hear from you and can’t wait until I can post your new total when you’ve been paid. Hopefully you’ll be over the first £1000 mark!
Camuk81 – oh no, you are normally so upbeat! Are you ok now hun? X
Psychopathbabble – speaking of Harry Potter, my friend has just come back from Florida and got me some Bertie Botts every flavour beans. She wouldn’t let me see what each of them were so my first one was SOAP!!!! Glad it wasn’t the vomit though or earthworm... hoep you’re enjoying Grimsby and have got to eat your chips by the sea...
Trying hard – whilst I’m not happy that you’re broke, I am very happy that you’ve done something to make you happy which is leave your job. Life is too short to do something you hate. Well done for being brave.
Miss_emmajane – of course you’re welcome! Sounds like you’ve been making some really big changes already!
K30lly – at least you are ebaying! I’m soooo rubbish, I think I’ve been trying to talk myself into it since the New Year!
Freez – well done on your payment hun!
Affordmylife – they are soooooo quick to judge and charge us! They really rile me up!!!!!!!!New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Right, after that MAMMOTH catchup I'm off out for my ritual 1hr exercise per day whilst it's still light. Liverpool isn't happening as the guy gave backward on letting me stay over then decided to go to the cinema (how can we catch up in the cinema???) and then was going to his friends for food later. Hmmmmmm if he's not fussed then neither am I so I'll keep my money thank you very much.

I hate hayfever!!! My sinuses are really playing me up today, BUT I finally feel like my old self again
Downward slope now until the OH returns, told him I'm picking him up from the airport then locking us in my room for 24hrs hahahaha....BUT should I use my 1 free night at a hotel that I earnt from Scotland?? What does everyone think?
Still worried that my expenses have gone missing, at this rate I might have to order my cc so I can use it for emergencies
BBQ at mine last night, I'm not going to miss much by moving to Bristol (this will be a compromise for both me and OH so it is what we both want not just one or the other), all the talk was superficial mostly diets which is awkward as I'm a size 6/8, mayoral elections which is boring as that happened on Thursday, nights out which I wasn't invited to, or b1tching about people.
How has everyone elses weekend been?
This weeks mini challenge: try something new
There's lots of things/groups/people out there doing interesting things for very little money. For example book clubs, womens groups, knitting groups, coffee mornings etc. Debt busting can be quite an isolating thing and we tend to lock ourselves away from the people that were enabling our spendability. So this weeks challenge, if you choose to accept, is to lookup one of these groups that interests you and have a go. This can be anything you like, could even be finding a running partner to encourage you with your fitness regimeDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I used to be, I've done a few 10k's and half marathons but haven't done it for a few years. I'm mainly hill walking at the moment as it's challenging and FREE! Running wise, I want to gear up to do a few 5k's, 10k's and half marathon's this year and then try for a marathon next year once my fitness level is up.I hate hayfever!!! I definitely think you should use your free night in a hotel as you live with your housemate and you'll want to be completely alone with your OH...
Absolutely brilliant challenge this week hun! I've been umming and ahhing (is that how you spell it...?) about joining a class and just haven't had the bottle yet to try. I can't decide on Zumba, Body Combat (I miss the fitness part of Jujitsu), Pilates or a running or sailing club (although the sailing club is pretty expensive so may have to leave it until next year). I've often thought of joining the womens running club but always think I'll not be able to keep up and be left at the back...BrandNewStart wrote: »See, weird that you should be saying that, that is exactly what I need.
