Completely forgot to give a debt update - I paid an extra £105 last week, and have some travel expenses due back this week, so new debt figure is:

    #338 £211/3486 = 6.06%

I'm slightly dreading this week though, something metal and ominous fell off my car on Friday! So keeping an eye on it this week for anything else/full collapse. It may put me back a few steps on the debt ladder!
  • Morning all from rainy Wales, just wondering if anyone has a halogen oven that they use regular and if so do they save you enough cash to justify the initial outlay I must be getting better as I usually buy first then ask lol x

Oops, I may have just realised why I have felt a bit dizzy today, after all the exercise I've done throughout the day I have only had 620 net calories...I should be on 1350 for the day (1799 including the exercise allowed). I don't feel hungry though so hopefully it should counter-act a bad day...

Eeek! I have just started looking honestly at calories and food and exercise and feel so much better for it already, wish I had done it before! I can't wait to lose weight and get fitter :)

I am a pretty regular cyclist, I like to enter "sportives" - a bit like a fun run on a bike. I have entered the Tour of the Peak in 3 weeks' time so I need to get training! One thing I have noticed though is for me it's all about nutrition - if I don;t eat right, it doesn't matter how much exercise I do! Your routine is inspiring to read :T

Hi all, and a happy bank holiday Monday!

Well we have done nothing this weekend apart from walk the dog and it has been lovely! Our only spend has been under a fiver at the co-op on beer, crisps and whoopsied donuts ;). So in celebration of this frugalness I did another 'round-down' of the current account so another £8.42 to the cc.

    So #319 £4560.28/£6109.94

Only sold 2 of my 5 on fleabay :( Might not bother relisting the others again and just pass them on to my friend's daughter instead.

Enjoy the last of he weekend folks.:D

I am v frustrated today. I can see DH's salary to be paid into our account but it won't clear until tomorrow so can't pay off any of the CC yet!!

Also looks like DH wasn't paid enough and he can't look at his payslip until tomorrow either. Harumph! Oh well, I will enjoy my pj day of films, a roast and maybe a short run and wait for my big payment tomorrow :)

Hi all, here’s my EPIC post...

Lemonpopsicle – I have to admit that I dropped out of all the “pots” challenges as I am paying every penny off my debts so didn’t see the point in putting something in a tub when it could go on a debt. Can’t wait until 2013 though when I can start saving with gusto! Oh and you’re welcome about running the thread. It’s you guys who make it awesome! Yay being over 50%!!! I’m soooo jealous...

What an epic update Jemma! Must have taken ages. Thank you x
I've decided that I'm still going to put coins in my pots but empty them more frequently and keep a sort of running total on here. The coins that go in aren't really missed, and I fear they would disappear into the ether (or into choccy bars or McD's) if I had access to them.:o
With that in mind I'm going to count up the coppers and pay towards cc tomorrow. I'll update a bit later.
It's turning into a sunny day here in Pembrokeshire, DH may have to go out and do some paid gardening work to catch up after a carp week.

    Hi all,

Well we're having a pretty good MSE weekend. Took the kids to Blackpool yesterday - DH's company car has fuel provided so free to get there & we went up the Tower, watched the circus & went into the dungeons free using our Merlin passes. Lunch was a £3 meal deal from subw@y each & Gr@ggs for the kids so less than a tenner spent. I hate arcades, but I bought the kids a pounds worth of old pennies to use in the victorian arcade & they had the best time ever!

We spent ages walking up & down the seafront & pier in the sunshine & the kids wanted a go on a tram so they got on with DH & I walked back up to meet them ( I could do with the exersise) We even parked on the street for free as it was a sunday! We did splash out on fish & chips though, but all in all I spent less than £30 which I was pretty chuffed with :D:D

Today I've been planting my veg out in the garden (in the rain) so I'm hoping for a bumper crop of runner beans and courgettes in the summer (if we ever get one :()

Hope everyone else is enjoying the bank holiday.

    Ruth

Hi miss emmajae- welcome to the group! I notice you say you have £1700 in an interest free student account and £1850 (?) in a non-interest free student account. Try moving your student account (it's allowed as long as you close the other one!) to one that gives you a higher interest free limit- at least that way you will save yourself the interest each month! Halifax/BoS give £2700, and there are others that give up to about £3k! The money you save on interest will go on debt busting! Martin has a really good page that shows you who offers what.

Thanks for your comment, I tried to get a Barclays student account in my first degree but got declined, so for this one I went with CO OP. Can't actually remember my reasoning behind it.

Will look into changing that as it would definitely make a difference!
  • Hi everyone- hope yr all enjoying this bank holiday :jweekend
