Does anyone here have a cross trainer? Specifically a 2 in 1 cross trainer?
Reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to get one from Amazon using my saved up vouchers. I wanna get this one here but how would I be able to use the cross trainer aspect of it? Would i have to take the seat of to use the cross trainer?0 -
Hello all, sorry I've been AWOL for a few days, but I just don't have the time to either read/contribute as much as I did.
Welcome to our new members, Copperboom, Lexilex and Reddonna. This is a lovely supportive thread, as you'll have already found, and contributing as regularly as you can will help you reap the best benefits. Good luck with whatever weightloss journey you take.
I can't remember who it as that mentioned joining Slimming World with a friend. My suggestion would be to give it a go. I joined just before Xmas last year, and have lost just over 1 stone. My losses have tailed off a bit, but that's been my fault, not the plan. It seems a bit daunting at first, but once you get the hang of the 'rules', it really is very easy, and I think the best healthy eating plan that allows you to eat plenty to satisfy your appetite. It's the only plan the Royal College of Midwives will promote, which I think says a great deal about the good nutritional value it has.
Victory and Fred, sorry I didn't see your posts about the soup recipe sooner. I only read through the thread every few days now, so a PM would have got a quicker response, as I get an email to notify me of them. I will put it in a completely separate post, making it easier to then link straight to that page from the first post on the thread. Victory, I would suggest that the reason your soup tasted so watery is that you added water, and not stock? Any extra liquid I add has to be stock, so that you get a flavour, otherwise it's like dishwater. As for the 'bitty' one, if it had pulses in it, perhaps they weren't cooked until soft enough? I would have put it through a sieve to at least have salvaged a liquid from it.
Well done to everyone for keeping up the hard work of stair climbing. I only managed 1 gym visit again last week, but that was in part due to the fact that they closed the gym at short notice for 'essential maintenance', which actually looked like they were changing the lightbulbs! OH needed me to help him on Friday with his work, so that was another visit not made. We'll be back in there tomorrow, but I'm not happy to be out of our routine of 3 times a week. The problem is that I plan my other days around the gym on Mon/Wed/Fri, so hard to change them.
Anyway, have a great week everyone, and good luck for any WI's before Wednesday. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

DYNO ROD SOUP
(Free on Slimming World's Extra Easy or Green plans)
This makes a LOT of soup
INGREDIENTS:
1 can mixed bean salad
1 handful lentils or 1 can of lentils
2 cans tomatoes
2 can baked beans/haricot beans
1 can chickpeas
1/2 an onion
4 large carrots
Sticks of celery
2 parsnips
1 each green, red and yellow peppers
Salt pepper
Mixed herbs
Garlic
Stock, using at least 2 stock cubes (enough to cover all ingredients)
Additional ingredients could be:
baby button mushrooms
Sweetcorn
Leeks
Swede
Turnip
Any other pulses
METHOD:
Chop up all the vegetables into as small or chunky sizes as you like. Place all the ingredients in a large saucepan, bring to the boil, then cook on a low simmer until all the vegetables and pulses are soft. I suggest at least an hour.
Alternatively, add the vegetables and pulses to a slow cooker crock pot, and pour over stock made from freshly boiled water. Add seasoning, leave on low to cook for a few hours (I leave it from morning until late afternoon).
Freezes well for up to 2 months.
I suggest making use of any veggies you have that look like they need using up, are a bit bendy or soft, or looking tired, and tailor the soup to your own tastes. I love this soup chunky, as it's almost like a winter stew, but my children love it blended, and it makes a really delicious and filling meal. If, when blended it seems a bit too thick, add more stock.
For a super speedy version, rather than using fresh veg, use a bag of frozen stew vegetables, £1 from the frozen cabinet in most supermarkets.
I also add a carton of passata if when its cooked it looks too thin for my liking. The best stocks I have found to use for this are a Knorr 'The Chicken Granules' (which also have 25% less salt), and Marigold Bouillon powder.... you'll find them near the oxo cubes and gravy granules. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Hello everybody. Just back from the gym and I'm knackered. Having lunch, then a shower, then off to the church

I figured out why I'm fat!
It's the shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my body - apparently it's for "extra volume and body" :eek:0 -
Here's some hot Dyno Rod soup action... anyone who can't trust themselves looking at naked vegetables should avert their gaze.
Chopped and ready to go
The longer it cooks, the scrummier it tastes.
BTW, I forgot to mention my secret ingredient of mushy peas, they help to thicken the soup, and you don't get those horrid solid peas like in Heinz vegetable soup. I don't like mushy peas usually, I'm a petite pois girl myself, but they are great in this soup, and for anyone on Slimming World, they're a speed food, so can really help with loss.
WARNING:
THIS SOUP IS NICKNAMED DYNO-ROD FOR A REASON.
It has the potential to make you very unpopular with your friends and family, but by golly does it work! One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
