First of all can I just say what a great job bargainhuntergal and princess pixiedust has done of putting the regular comps thread into neat categories.
I also liked the way it was previously run too....a regular comp posted and gilla PM'd who also regularly updated the regs comps thread.
I now comp randomly so don't use the regs board as often as I would like but having said that, I wouldn't like to see it being removed as like glad said....we couln't put each and every comp on the main board, I think it would just end in lots of bumped threads and folks missing out on lots more comps.
Personally, my poll would be like this.....
Do you use the Dailies thread?
Sometimes, regularly, never
Do you use the weeklies thread?
Sometimes, regularly, never
Do you use the monthly thread?
Sometimes, regularly, never
Would you like to see the thread removed?
Yes, No
Would you like to see the regs' comps posted on main board with a link to the thread in regulars?
Yes, No, Maybe
Would you like to see the regs' comps posted in regulars with a possible sticky on main board for updated regs' comps?
Yes, No, Maybe
Personally I am quite happy with the way the boards are run but my only concern is that regular users are leaving which is quite sad. I understand folks are missing out on lots of comps with some getting moved to regulars so I think a vote on this might be the best option.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
a lot of people are still saying they'd like all comps on the main board with a link to the regs board, but there wouldn't be a regs board if that were the case, the stickies would have to be on the main board too and all comps (whatever the title format) would all be on one board
a few are saying they would like a regs board for some comps as comping by end date may mean missing regular entry into a comp
could this be a compromise (bear with me it's only an idea and could be tweaked to suit most people)

Thanks for taking the time to think that through. That is the clearest definition of "regular" I have read. I also think it is a very simple solution to the problem...and actually wouldn't be too much of a change to what already exists.
There will be the odd comp that doesn't fit into any of the rules (Radio Caroline(?) which is daily and weekly) but that will just be a case of using discretion as to where would be the best place to post it (probably in the dailies).:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Hi
Not wishing to avoid answering the question about the poll, as I tend to stick to the main board. However I did find the advent board really easy to use, you could just go to the main page and link from there and the comps were still on the main board, I think.
So could the regulars board be run with a front page list, or are there too many, too complicated?
Thanks

agree with this, love that idea glad thank you. i would prefer weeklies and maybe monthlies posted on regulars as well, monthlies because then i can work through that thread once in the month when i have time and not be met with 20million comps ending on the last day of the month and weeklies because then i can work through when i have time each week and its a few less comps to check on the day before they end....but i wont moan and demand if its decided they go on main.
can i please ask that a rule be made saying all daily (and weekly/monthly if they are not going on main) be linked to at the end of the daily sticky? if all posts are linked in the reg stickies then no one has to search the regs board for new posts, the way bhg adds them to dailies its easily obvious which are new for those who add them to their own bookmark folders.0 -
Am i right in thinking the people that want monthly comps with an end date want it posted on the main board but then have a re-direct(it will say moved and there will be no post as such on the main board but you will see it and when you click on it it will take you to the thread on the regular board?) to the regular board?
If that's the case then it wouldn't work as you can only re0direct for certain times(1 hour 1 day etc) and won't be able to have the re-direct for the time you w-nt until it ends:)
Or do you want a regular monthly/weekly post put on the main board and then the same poster posting it again in regulars?
This is so confusing. My suggestion is to have away with all board apart from the main board and just have one comping board and keep it simple.Darren0 -
You can't please everyone, but for what it's worth...
I rarely (if at all) go on the regulars board and would prefer the comps to be on the main board. If I find a comp that is regular that I'm interested in I will put it in my favourites folder and if I have time will enter them.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £148.39 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
There are some good suggestions already on here, but I must warn that some poll questions suggested would not work if everybody gave honest answers.
eg. Do you use the regulars board? YES/NO
My answer is YES - but this is because
a) Some comps can only be found there, if I want to enter them I am forced to use the regulars.
b) I post on the end of the daily sticky for bargainhuntergal to update her index, and so that end date compers don't miss out.
I am working on my own suggestion and will post later.0 -
I think Glad said earlier on in the thread that a redirect can be for any amount of time up to 10 months?
I've got Radio Caroline in the dailies because although it's a weekly draw, it's a daily entry, that's why I said previously that it should be about both how often you can enter and how often the draw is. If it was done on the draw that one would be in the weeklies, but as you can enter daily, it's a daily.0 -

Regarding "monthlies" and "weeklies" I would just have them all posted each month on the main board, i.e. E: 31/01 Win a prize, E: 28/02 Win a prize, etc. Then lists wouldn't need to be maintained for "weeklies" or "monthlies" and no linking would be necessary as each separate draw would just have it's own thread and could be found in the same way every other comp is on the main board.0 -

but I think what most people would like is to have monthlies with an end date posted as a seperate thread each month on the main board, with no move or redirect to regs
but if we do keep regs then any we do move over to have a redirect until people get used to what is being moved thereI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
