Eventually! i have figured out how to add pictures!

made this last night

and this is the blanket i was making that i got the idea from here

This blanket i done for my sons Gaelic nursery

and this is my baby slippers

I am now on a quest, have decided to make nearly everything for my sons birthday in April, the party is outdoors, at Finlaystone Country Estate, and im going to have an 'egg' hunt, as its in the run up to easter, so im goingto make loads of egg cosies, some will be felt owls, most crochet cosies, so if anyone has links to different animal cosies id be really appreciative of them.
I have done a snail, but not sewed him together yet, he's for on the table

Im getting really excited, as we're having live owls thier!

Edit: sorry the pictures are soo big, how do i get them to be smaller? im using photobucket as a hosting site.

Loving the creations! I picked up a finger puppet book at the library at the weekend so making finger puppets for my nieces second birthday. Also making a 'puff stitch' blanket for my sister. She chose the colour a boring beige/cream/taupe and so difficult to keep motivated as I love colour colour colour but it's what she wants.

Ppic's when I've finished... frog is the first puppet. Started tonight.

Hi All,

So excited to see this thread. I started as a newbie crocheting last Christmas and managed to make a pair of slippers, very basic and not perfect. Now I am at home all day would love to make a blanket for my Step Sons baby boy due in June. I have tried and tried to make squares with little success. Has anyone got any tips.

id recommend doing one big square, if u can. it took me ages before i got the hang of squares.
are you following a pattern? is it one bit you keep getting stuck with?

you could alternatively do rows like knitting.
chain in multiples of 3, 30 lots (thats a 90 chain),
row 1 - turn, in the 3rd chain from hook, single crochet double crochet double crochet, miss 2, single crochet double crochet double crochet, miss 2
repeat till end of row
row 2 - chain 2, turn
in the next single crochet space of previous row, single crochet double crochet double crochet, in next single crochet space, single crochet double crochet double crochet
repeat to the end....
do row 2 as many times until blanket is at desired legnth.

thats the 'puff' looking blanket ive posted a pic of above.

the terms are in american, as thats how i learned to crochet (via TJW1965 on you tube - fully recommend checking out her tutorials) but to learn how to do a granny square it took me buying a 'lets get crafting... crochet' magazing and i picked it up from there.

my single crochet (SC) is (this is a British Double CrochetDC)

hook through stitch, yarn over, pull though (should have 2 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through

my double crochet is

yarn over hook, insert hook through stitch, yarn over, pull back through stitch (should be 3 loops on hook) yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through the remaning 2 loops on hook

I used Sirdar Click Chunky with Wool on a 6mm hook - fast and easy!
