Supermarkets have incredible power over our consumption and food bills. They also have enormous profits.
I suggest all "buy one, get one free" promotions should be banned and replaced with price reduction promotions - ideally half price. This would reduce wastage and help combat obesity.0 -
Additionally I would help cater to pensioners by ensuring fruit and veg was available by weight/item rather than in multi-packs and eggs singly. At a time of rapidly rising food prices this could make a huge difference to the nutrition of the most vulnerable in society.0

In a time when it is so difficult to get on the housing market more protection should be available to renters. Renters should have the right to request individual contracts from landlords rather than be responsible for other tenants rent and council tax which they have no means of controlling.0

As someone whose husband got clamped, and had to pay £155 for release, for parking 20 minutes at Bradford University loading my son's things before Christmas, I would like the law to be changed as proposed as soon as possible. Perhaps public bodies like universities could also be discouraged from using these bully boy tactics even before the law changes?0

That all aspects of "Pay Day" loans should be examined and made as fair as possible, including limits on advertising. As someone who applies for one of these loans is indicating problems with financial management, then maybe they should have to be referred to Citizens Advice and given details of any other help available before they can be given a loan.0

Tax celebrities' sponsorship incomes at 99% (they don't do that much extra work for it anyway).0

Celebrities selling a "life" story to the media should be paying a 500 quid per publication tax.0

The graph of average Home Heating Oil prices at http://www.boilerjuice.com/heatingOilPrices.php show that at the beginning of Dec 2010 increased from ~47ppl to ~73ppl (a 55% increase) almost overnight.
This increase has been blamed on the industry by the increased cost of crude oil and difficulty of supply and delivery during the heavy period of snow and bad weather covering the UK during Dec 2010.
The above average national price increase of 55% should be investigated and justified especially as the significant snow and ice that occured in Jan/Fed of 2010 that caused similar disruption to the UK did not show such high levels of price increase (the max national average at that time was ~50ppl).
The Parliamentary document published on 17 Dec 2010 at (http://www.parliament.uk/briefingpapers/commons/lib/research/briefings/snsc-05806.pdf) shows that "Around 13% of households in England, 19% in Wales, and 12% in Scotland do not have access to the gas network".
Many households use Oil or LPG as they do not have the option of gas without a significant financial burdon to be connected to a gas main (if feasible).
There is no regulation of the Home Heating Oil or LPG supply industry in the UK as they are not covered by OFGEM in the same way as the gas or electricy supply industry.
This situation has the possibilibility of creating local monopolies between suppliers (and gives significant regional variation in the cost of supply) and a significant possibility of profiteering.0 -
A large number of people (men and women) are travelling under old names on passports due to the large costs set out to renew. I believe newlyweds should not have to pay full price just to change their name.0

All insurance/service/utility providers must be listed on comparison websites, no opt outs, allow them to state "no comparison site-specific special deals" in the marketing contract.
Direct Line and Aviva, I'm looking squarely in your direction.0
