  • PPC guy, nobody is asking who you are personally. I'm not interested in this and nor I feel sure is anyone else. But I am interested in who you represent as I want to test what you have said against the publicly available information about your business. I am expecting a big mismatch but you have the chance to prove me wrong. It may be that there is a truly ethical and reasonable PPC out there that we have never heard of. If no adverse reports about the company you represent appears anywhere on the big 3 consumer forums then surely you have nothing to worry about.

Fair appeals are already in place. I am a human and i wouldnt be happy if i got a parking ticket so i take that same view (ie did they overstay by 2 minutes if so they could have had a fair reason so does it deserve to be a ticket.

But i agree we need a neutral appeals system. The issue would be either making it legislation to join the appeals system or giving some weight to being in the system or people wont join.

    About 40% pay "off-screen"
    About 10% pay after NTO
A Further 15% will pay when snet last chance for decreased amount
the other 35% probably wont pay ever.

Our appeals rate is about 40% sucess which shows we do accept appeals. Some appeals not counted in this 40% are appeals such as "got stuck in a queue" which is a feasible excuse but for a hour overstay its a bit extreme so we will offer a further reduced price.

I beg to differ, I have only ever seen a handful of invoices ever cancelled, all them due to the retailer, there is no fair appeals process, and every major PPC turns them down 100% even when there is proof that the ticket was issued incorrectly, or the driver gave receipts to the PPC, or luton airport's case someone was in a traffic jam.

Really the only fair appeals are the small claims at the moment, but you have stated that you have never been there.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • I assume he only refers to his own company, we all know that generally an appeals process does not exist except as an illusion to con the unwary.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

By the way, according to the BPA it should be 5 minutes grace, don't you abide to that? and on that, if you leave within a the grace period but are caught in traffic exiting the car park for 20 minutes or so, what do you do then? I know what a majority of PPCs would say:

    Appeal denied!

A Person who is disabled normally would have a disabled badge. Not necessarily If a person parks in a disabled bay they would indeed be issued a ticket. I would however cancel any tickets issued to them upon reciept of validation that they are disabled as defined by a medical expert. What validation would be acceptable I am not here to penalise people who should be/have the right to be in the space. How do you, as a company, judge the "right" This is what some people on here dont seem to comprehend.

Also the revenue stream is there through greed arguement can be claimed for any service such as MOT. does it really cost £50 for a person to spedn 25-30 minutes on a car? Some semblance of intelligence is required to perform an MOT

Many services are seen as providing value for money, I have yet to see anyone defend the costs involved with PPC charges so in my mind it is indeed driven by greed.

I could argue three things on that point alone.

    1) My inlaws are registerd disabled and often come out with us on shopping trips. Why should I get penalised for parking in a disabled bay when I have them on board, I dont use their badge, they keep their badge in their car.

    2) Sister is registered disabled - she has Crones disease. She drives and sometimes needs the disabled bays in private car parks. She is only 38 and doesnt want to be branded as disabled and so has not applied for a BB. So being as she is "legally" disabled how would you know she isnt ?, afterall she IS entitled to use the bay.

    3) You have openly admitted disabled bays on private land are not worth the paint they are painted with and are not legally enforceable, so why then does your company harass people who have parked there...could be my sister who is legally entitled to park there ! and your company is aggrivating her condition....thought of that have you ?

Getting back to how should pcp's be patrolled ? barriers have to be the only way forward, ticket on entry then redeemed at till upon purchase, if there is no purchase made then a daily parking fee is payable to exit - say £5 or equivelent charge made by local council for parking all day.

As for being invoiced for going back to the store where you have just done shopping and forgot something, who made that rule up ? im betting the stores didnt, why would the store turn away customers ? my local LIDL parking for 1 n half hrs no return within 2 hrs....thats Euro ballcocks.... I get all the way home do some work go out of time and then remember that product I needed, go back to the store and get a ticket ! f c u ked if im going to pay the ppc for a ticket there when im spending money in the store, again raises the case for barriers.

Money to purchase the barriers ? PPC's could charge the stores a contract fee over a few years for proper car park management, gritting - lighting - surfacing - landscaping etc and recoup the money for the barriers that way, the ppc could also get percentage of the daily parking fee if folks dont shop there.

Looking forward to your answers on those points ppc guy

I was using it as an example. And no in answer to your question we dont follow GUIDELINES. We allow 5 minutes or 10% of the time paid for whicever is GREATER.

If a person has paid for 4 hours and overstay by 10 minutes on our P+D site it may become detrimental to future profits as they may not return.

The Right is simple. a disabled bay is intended for the use of a disabled person or for the facilitiation of a person directly aiding a person who falls into the afore mentioned category.

I said normally as i know EVERYONe who is disabled wont have a blue badge.

Validation acceptable would be anything which proves beyond doubt a person is disabled.
