    morning!

Am back after 2 busy days at work!:j am off now till Monday:D
DH still off work but is slightly better thanks to resting, not sure how he will cope going back to work next week. Have had to tighten our belts a bit but we're coping so far.
DS is trying to sort his school work out, he really wants to go to college so he knows he's got to work for it, its just exhausting trying to keep an eye on it all on top of working full time and looking after the house and a DH with a bad back/heart.

    Ellie - wondered where you'd got to!:hello:

Luxor - hope you get your shopping put away! like the idea of your blockade - just put them in front of the TV and see how quick they move them;)

    Crazychick - glad you're back:T

AMIE - hope you soon feel better

(((hugs))) to everyone else feeling poorly or down xxxxx

Havent read the last 2 days threads so apologies if I've missed anything important out!

Off to do some cleaning for my Mum soon then going to do a little shopping later with DH then got the paper round as DS2 has a special afterschool club to go to.Tonight its Tap dancing so its a busy day plus got a mountain of ironing waiting!

    Take care all xxxx
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Morning!:hello;

    Enjoy your day off Catowen
Pen Pen..... Looking forward to the evidence of all that work. ;)
CrazyChik...Glad you're feeling better, it's nice to see you back.
Shez....Don't rush yourself with that picture. ;):o
Anniebooklover...Well done to your DS. :T
Amie....Did you see it's a live trial tonight on I'm a Celebrity? Apparantly they are shipping the poor person off to Lamb Island where they will be tied up with dishcloth yarn and force fed lettuce by a woman talking a strange language. :D:p
Churchmouse.....I agree that hens are much nicer than Robins. Robins are simply the cheekiest birds alive! Mine follows me round. It used to be cute but now she's soo cheeky he just gets on my nerves. :D;):p :rotfl:
Pink...Is Adam getting on your nerves yet? :D

Had a busy OS day yesterday....Made blackberry and apple jam, carrot and seed muffins and lumberjack cakes. (very useful for using up all those leftover lumberjacks). ;):D
Off to the office this morning. A huge pile of paperwork awaits me.
The appt on Monday was what I expected. I need another OP, (3rd in 3 years) and have to go to the doc again today to have some bloods taken. Not sure why but my GP has been instructed to take them by my new Neurologist. We live in the sticks and when we get our bloods taken we have to take them to the lab ourselves to be tested. So I have a friend watching the girls until tea time.

Had a school board meeting last night and was home late so was up till all hours sorting uniforms and making lunches (and replying to rude pm) :p

Tonight will be an easy tea. I've just lifted a shepherd's pie out of the freezer.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all,

donny-gal, have a safe journey home. I have an irrational fear of heights and you wouldn’t get me on that bridge for love nor money!
Crazychick, it’s good to see you back. dlb sounds like a great neighbour.
scuzz, I'm glad your nan is ok.
redruby, what a great birthday treat for your dd.
Anniebooklover, congrats to your ds on the story...It sounds as though he deserved that A.
Luxor4t, good luck with the decluttering.
Taplady, I am so glad that dh is feeling a bit better.
catowen, I hope the children settle soon...enjoy your day off.
Churchmouse, I hope you’re feeling better today.
Gingham, I laughed at you nearly forgetting ds1. You really do need to get some sleep soon.
Aussie, I’ve always found robins to be quite cheeky little chatterboxes!
Haribo, special hugs for you today. I hope the blood tests go well. I did remember, honestly! There really is no need for indignant pm's at this time of the morning! ;):D:p :kisses3:

It’s a lovely sunny crisp morning here so we really enjoyed the walk to school. Adam is still asleep…he never normally has more than eight hours so he must need it. Breakfast for him this morning will be porridge and a banana smoothie. Lunch is going to be French toast with a fresh fruit salad afterwards. He’s going to be a bit fed up today so I’ll have to think of something to cheer him up. It’s prize day in school and he was really looking forward to it because he’d won the school progress prize this year, but unfortunately he’s just not fit to go.

The cupboards here are bare…I’ve stopped buying biscuits and cakes recently and am trying to make them all myself, but we’ve run out. So filling all the cake tins is my project for today. I might even have a go at Haribo’s lumberjack cake.

I have no idea what’s for tea. I’ll have a root around in the freezer to see if I can find some inspiration. Something for the slow cooker would be good as I’m working tonight and my first call is quite a way away, so I have to leave earlier than usual.

I hope you’re all having a good day.

  • Hi everyone :hello:

I did post yesterday but a bit late for all you early birds :) Other than that it's AGES since I last posted on the Daily Thread so a big :hello: :hello: :hello: everyone. I've slipped a bit with my OS-ing and my FLY-ing (OK, I've slipped a LOT) so hoping to spend a bit more time here and get inspired by you all :)

mioliere, you've inspired me to get wrapping presents from my xmas cupboard this morning. I always mean to do it as I go along and always end up panicking the day of the last posting date. Hope DS2 is little enough not to notice that I am wrapping his while he's there!
SnowyOwl, I've had the same experience with charity shops. Sometimes they look at my donations (all decent, clean stuff) like I have fly-tipped rubbish in their shop . It probably is worth phoning round to make sure they are taking donations as I think they get quite busy at this time of year with everyone decluttering before xmas.
anniebooklover, well done to you DS on his story - sounds really imaginative. Maybe he will be the next JK Rowling? :)
donny-gal, holiday sounds amazing - I would love to do a proper tour round France.
scuzz, glad your nan is OK after her fall, must have been a shock for you both :(
Crazychik, don't know what's been going on with you but (((hugs))) anyway, hope things are OK
HariboJunkie, hope it goes OK at the doctor.

Very cold and frosty here this morning, poor DS2 wrapped up like a Mummy for the school run and he was still crying with the cold by the time we got there :(:( I think he is teething though and also has an allergy rash that's come up - doctor says he is probably allergic to his cold

Got loads of leeks and potatoes hanging around from our last veg box so going to try to get a big batch of soup made. Wish I had some watercress, I found some in the bottom of the fridge :o but it was too far gone so had to go into the bin. Going to do my FLY-ing today too, DS1 prompted me to sort his room out by wetting the bed this morning

    Have a good day everyone.

Just had our tea which was delicious by the way. :D DD bought me some chips (crisps PPen) :p for a treat so I'll be feeding my face on them soon.

Donny I see you must have come back and edited your post. It was only tiny when I wrote. ;) Enjoy your drive. It looks wonderful.
Moiliere The weather here is beautiful atm. :p Lovely warm days but still a nip in the air at night for good sleeping.
Haribo You've just reminded me. I need to mow the lawn tomorrow. :D Please, pretty please will you post your Lumberjack Cake?
Crazychick I'm glad to see you posting again and feeling much better.
    Annie Well done DS. :T
Pink I bought my first pkt of biscuits this week since I got back. I've been baking too. I was sick of doing it daily as XDIL stuffs her face the minute I"m not patrolling the biscuit/cake tin. :D

Well off to have a shower and cast on. I've forgotten how so I"ve had to watch a video from the computer. It's completely different to what I remember doing it. Byeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning everyone, It wasnt to bad this morning the kids behaved and i got upstairs hoovered and cleaned although dd2 is in big trouble her rooms a tip and all of her clothes i ironed last night are now scattered all over her bedroom floor so thats the last time i iron anything of hers i'v said that before but i mean it this time.
I think my brother might be nipping in some time this morning i think hes bringing his new girlfriend it must be seriouis as usually we don't even get a glance of who ever hes seeing lol.
ds got to school and realised he had a folder missing i'v searched the house just hope he didnt drop it on the way to school i'm going to have to retrace our steps if i cant find it .
pulled a pork shank out of the freezer for tea not quite sure what i'm meant to do with it i know you can boil it so i''l do that and just see how it turns out i'll just add a few bits to it while its cooking.

    hugs net xxx
  • Well done Annie's son. :T

Poor ole Pink's. Must be disappointing for him but nevermind. He's home at least. Would have been worse if he'd been thinking about it while being stuck in hospital, poor lad.

And Scuzz - hope your nan is doing okay today. Poor lass, it's bound to make her a bit nervy for a while.

Bothan Burgers (Jamie Olivers) tonight for tea with salad, so will have to get the BM on as I like to let the breadcakes rise all afternoon. They come out lovely then.

Have been an absolute piggy and eaten a chunk of D&DD's apple braid for my breakfast instead of my weetabix as I'm in a rebellious mood. It is too scrummy by half.

Will have to do a crisis clean in the house today as I would hang my head in shame if anyone should call just now. :o Besides, I happen to know that my bumper dvd stack of Darling Buds of May is waiting for me to pick up today and I'm gonna veg out and have dvd fest when I get them. :D

    Good day to everyone.

As Haribo has gone to work I'll post it on her behalf...please wait before making it to check that it's right as it was hurredly scribbled down on the phone yesterday and I would just die if someone made it and it flopped because I can't read my own writing. :o

    1 cup chopped apple
    1 cup chopped dates
    1 teasp bicarb
    1 cup boiling water
    125g butter
    1 teasp vanilla essence
    1 cup caster sugar
    1 egg
1 and a half cups of plain flour

    Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Combine apple, dates, bicarb, flour and water and leave to stand for 10 minutes.
Beat butter, vanilla essence, sugar and egg.
    Combine both mixes.
Pour into prepared tin (swiss roll type) and bake for 50 minutes.

Topping (which Haribo didn't bother with)

    60g butter
    half cup brown sugar
    half cup milk
    2/3 cup of coconut

Put into a saucepan and heat. Spread topping over cooked cake and return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
    Slice into fingers.
