I would love to join the challenge. I am only weighing myself once a month otherwise I will hyper focus on the numbers. I read the suggestion of writing it down in lots of forms (lbs, kg etc) and that seems a good idea.
Re exercise - I walk loads anyway. The kids school is a 1.5 mile round trip so I do that once a day (hubby collects as it fits in better with his work) all be it at a slow pace. I might try the pedometer idea but dont really hold out much hope of it working. Its stupid I know but I want a quick fix!!!
I used to know of a website that did free workout plans. You could type in what you wanted to achieve and how you wanted to do it and it would help you plan when to fit it all in and even had suggestions of exercises to do at home. If it got to easy it would up the difficulty level. It was great but I lost the address.
Never mind I will keep plugging on. Sorry for being so negative but I have just realized that I am starving. I need to watch that I think
Thanks again
CB
The website sounds great let me know if you find it again, I have all the ideas but putting them into an ordered plan might help me.
Good luck0 -
BB, thanks for that! We're in the middle of sorting a million things at mo but once that's done I'm sure I'll start to get excited! I say that - OH is upstairs trying to sleep off the effects of his early birthday party last night and I'm on here, so not much activity right now lol! I'm definitely approaching it from a very different angle this time and to be honest, am just stoked to be able to go at all, so anything else will be a bonus. Hope your meds ease off by the time I'm back and if I miss your 2nd birthday, have a great time! :grouphug:
Ajax, sadly I don't have my own Wii, was just on my brother's, so can't be your playmate...;)
Grannynise, you crack me up with that wicked sense of humour! :rotfl:
Welcome to all the newbies and returners, glad to have you on board!
123money,your exercise goals are admirable and with some tweaks may be much more sustainable. It's a good idea to alternate your exercise e.g. one 'heavy' day followed by an 'easier' day so if you run on Day 1 give your body a break and a chance to repair itself by walking, for example, on Day 2. Why not try the pedometer challenge as was mentioned? Cross training is an excellent way to get fit and lose weight but this will happen more quickly if you are kind to your body and give it these hard/easier days. At least one rest day is also vital. Good luck with it all.
Okay, OH has surfaced so it's Mission Get Packing! If I have time tomorrow I might check in quickly but if not, have a great month everyone and I'll 'see' the slimmer yous in October xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

This was supposed to be fitted at the Docs 18 months ago  every time I ask though I just get "yes we will arrange this soon" - the family planning clinic is up three flights of stairs, no lift and I can only walk up one flight (with difficulty) because of my disability - so I am stuck with the Docs
On the plus side I did a "day early" hop onto the scales this morning and I seem to be down a pound and a half :jDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

[quote=clutterbunny;6177809]thought I would pop along and join you guys.
I am trying to loose weight by eating smaller portions, stopping when I am full, only eating when I am hungry and doing more exorcise.
I am struggling with the exorcise though. So far I have
Day 1 - ran 2.5 miles
Day 2 - Attempted to run but had to stop as I had done too much previously
Day 3 - Swam 20 lengths of the pool
Day 4 - Cycled 2.5 miles and broke the bike (gears went)
Day 5 - Borrowed bike, Cycled 2 miles and left bike there.
Day 6 - Walked 2 miles, collected bike and cycled back (then this one broke)
Day 7 - Aerobics video
Day 8 and 9 - days off
Hi Clutterbunny,. Like the name! Your goals and food approach sound great, especially if you break down your goals in to tasty lttle morsels (sorry, bad analogy:D ).
I think (and it is only my opinion) that you are trying too much too soon with the exercise and you ain't going to keep that up very long. Like others have suggested, how about aiming for something every other day, start much smaller and built up gradually. Finding something you enjoy is the most important thing if you are going to keep at it.
If your knee's dodgy, try building up the speed at which you walk (obviously not with the kids in tow:D )- this is as affective as running . Swim twice a week. Any chance of going to an exercise class (or an aquaaerobics class if you like the water)? I know this costs but once a week might keep you focussed: pilates is good and might be gentle on the knee. Try and get another bike through freecycle if biking interests you or is there any scheme where you live where you can trade skills, so get someone to repair your bike in exchange for childcare or whatever? (assumig you can't afford to get them fixed.) They must have been needing a little tlc to break so quickly. I don't believe it was because you were overweight!!!
By starting small and building up you will get a buzz of achievement :j which will snowball rarther than feeling a sense of failing at falling at the 2nd hurdle.

Good luck with the weigh in dragon. Looking good :T .
Dragon, given your name and signature, don't you think you could get a bit firm with the docs, in a nice way of course. Being firm and clear about what your needs are and demanding action isn't the same as being out of control. But this has clearly been going on long enough and is unacceptable. Lack of medical care is making you ill and you are worth the very best care available. Can you see a female Dr who might appreciate the gravity of the situation a bit more (though I have met some wonderful male GP's in my time but is this chap a bit of a dinosaur?)
And if the doc isn't reading your notes, remind him what is in them. Or perhaps take a friend or partner in with you who can speak on your behalf if you feel you are not getting the service you need but am unable to speak up about it effectively (and there is no shame in that at all).

Off the thread I know... from personal experience ... get one!!
Have just read the post about trying to get one and being put off. In this area the mirena supply IS limited because they are expensive to provide and only some FP staff are trained to fit them. So send out those dragony flames and insist. It's your body and if that particular device wassuggested previously by your doctor you clearly need it. You could have a case of medical negligence brewing.
Sorry Ajax and Suggs ... not your sort of topic. Maybe you could start something on baldness or nose hair .... not that I'm suggesting for an instant ....0 -
I found some free resources.
http://www.women-workout-routines.com/free-workout-routines.html - this site has some free video aerobics exorcise. For some you need a password but not the ones you can see on this page.
http://www.trainwithmeonline.com/programs.asp - free workout plans. some you need equipment but not all. you can sign up and track you progress but I havnt so dont know what this is like.
These are not the one I was looking for but they are a start.
Brighton belle - I am going to have to cut down the amount of excorcise I do anyway as its back to work tomorrow and I wont have as much time. I do alot as part of my weekly routine anyway as we only have one car. I will still try to swim more and may even buy myself a new (to me) bike.
hope the links are useful to someone.

OK, let's clear this up. No-one as far as I know is arguing over the points value of a tin of tomatoes. That's because I can't argue as I have no opinion on the subject, and delly can't argue as one can't really argue with someone who has no opinion
. The only two opinions about the points value of a tin of tomatoes are that of the Weight Watchers official book, and the Weight Watchers official calculator. As they give two different answers, as least one of them is palpably wrong. I just want to know why, and which one is right. That's it, last word from me on the subject.
Now then, Subway. Does anyone use Subway regularly, and if so can they please tell me what a "deli-style" sandwich is, as opposed to a different Subway sandwich style? We just got a Subway here, and they are blimming gorgeous, having just had a Veggie Delite. Thanks.0 -
[delly]" guidelines on the amount of alcohol and sugary food to be consumed in a week (14 - I'm sure you've noticed that in your OH's book by now)."

ajaxgeezer wrote: »... this is probably the time to mention.... there is debate over tinned tomatoes isn't there? The WW points calculator says they are 1.5 points a 400g tin.
the book of WW recipes the time to eat says there are 0 points per tin of toms:rolleyes:
We use subway for the deal of the day, I like the way that you can customize your own sandwich, I have masses of salad on brown with no sauces, cheeses and just plain turkey, cuts all the wasted calories (on the sauces and cheese etc) and still tastes fresh and great:D0
