Can anyone tell me how to get the 2 diallers I purchased on behalf of a couple of OAP's who are unable to cope with manual dialling like myself to get the Heinz programme?

I did send the email with serial numbers etc. over a week ago and received confirmation it arrived but since then absolutely nothing!
You'd normally just get another e-mail telling you to force the dialler(s) to call home to pick up the Heinz program but, I suspect, the lack of same has been caused by the 'office move' (which, it appears, was a considerably more disruptive complete 'factory/premises move' - from Corby, Northamptonshire to Ridlington, Leicestershire).

They used to be at:

Orchid Electronics Ltd
6 Canberra House
Priors Haw Road
Corby Gate Business Park
Corby
Northants

Fax : +44 (0) 1536 443850 (0870 064 0021)

Orchid's website now shows:

Ridlington Park House

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I forced mine to dial home successfully last night after a power cut here in Essex.

Just to be sure, I have just logged into CW Client - and it's working normally again now.

Have you changed the Host IP address to read: http://82.68.122.157/ (as mentioned on Page 11 of the Quick Start User Guide?

I had trouble with that - what that page says should happen just didn't for me - so I had to change it manually:

In Windows XP, click start, then on Search, then on For Files or Folders.

A 'Search Results' box appear. Click on All files and folders and 3 white boxes appear on the left for you to enter information. The cursor should be flashing in the top one and, in there, type CWClient.ini

Leave the centre box empty and check that the bottom on has Local Hard Drives ( C: )

Click Search

The file will be found quite quickly (the one with the Type Configuration Settings). Double click on it and a new box CWClient.ini - Notepad will open showing the file's content:

[Server]
Host=http://82.68.122.157/
WebServer=Dial/CWServer.dll/

If the numbers on the second line are different, change them to read exactly as above. Then click File, Save.

That's the end of that - now you should be able to log into your CW Client account using your User Name and Password.

Now the fun starts.

When the CW Client window opens, click on Product (the yellow telephone on the left), then Search.

Select search field will be blued - select Product from the drop-down menu and then Set operator will be blued. Select > and Type required value will be blued. Press the space bar once to empty that field and click Add and then Apply

You should then see a line detailing your dialler appear - double click it and you're ready to check your Active Routing Table and construct a new New Routing Table.

Good luck.

Working fine here and my plan changed must have took place while it was down.

Just my luck for them to change offices the day I go to Primus.

If it dont work for you make sure you have the details Heinz mentioned right.

Host=http://82.68.122.157/
WebServer=Dial/CWServer.dll/

And maybe turn off any firewalls.

The 13 February 2007 Heinz program update introduced routing for all 05x calls for the first time. The routing sent all 05x calls via CPS override (i.e. via BT).

There are 3 charging groups with the 05 number range:

(1) 0500 numbers - Free
(2) 0551100, 0555508 and 055883 numbers - BT g6 rate
(3) 056 and any other 055 numbers (there are 14 other 055 number ranges) - BT g21 rate

Although BT's rates for calls to g21 rate numbers appear to be different to its standard UK 01/02 rates, they're not for BT Together Option 1 customers (i.e. BT charges 3p 'set-up fee' + 3p/minute peak (6p 'set-up fee' + 3¼p/minute from 1/8/07) or 5½p (4½p from 1/8/07) for up to an hour evenings and weekends).

Primus state that, unlike BT, they do not treat them the same as UK 01/02 numbers - so those on Primus Saver Option 2 CPS cannot make free evening and weekend calls (of up to 90 minutes) to the 055/056 numbers which BT charges at g21 rate.

However, 18185 charges "zero pence per minute" for calls to 056 numbers (although calls to 055 numbers are rejected) so, currently being cheaper than BT's rates* at all times, it is logical to amend the 'all 05x calls via CPS override' routing to:

0500 calls via CPS override (BT) at all times;
055x calls via CPS override (BT) at all times;
056 calls via 18185 at all times.

The 1st June 2007 Heinz program update made that alteration.

* BT's rate, at 4½p (if the call is less than an hour), will be ½p per call cheaper from 1/8/07.

On 16 January 2009, BT added 0845 & 0870 calls to 01, 02, 03 inclusive calls in all their call Plans. That means that those on BT's Unlimited Anytime Plan get inclusive 0845/0870 calls of up to an hour each at any time, those on their Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan get inclusive 0845/0870 calls of up to an hour each evenings and weekends and those on their Unlimited Weekend Plan Plan get inclusive 0845/0870 calls of up to an hour each weekends only.

Remember, 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872 and 0873 numbers are completely different from 0845/0870 numbers and calls to them are always chargeable (between
0.509p/minute and 5.052p/minute for 0843/0844 and between 6.126p/minute and 10.211p/minute for 0871/2/3 from a BT landline).

For those still on BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan, the below shows the current charges for 0845 and 0870 calls:

0845----
Weekday- Evening---Weekend

BT
13.1p + 2.042p/min.-0.51p/min.-0p*/min.(*up to 60 minutes)

18185---- -- 5p + 3p/min.
-3p/min.- -3p/min.
0808 1703703 5p + 3p/min.--3p/min.- -3p/min.

1899---- --- 5p + 3
½p/min.-3½p/min.--3½p/min.
18866---- -- 5p + 4p/min. -4p/min.---2p/min.

All prices include VAT @ 20%

So, on a cost-per-minute basis, the cheapest routing for 0845 calls appears to be:
0845
Weekday--Evening---Weekend

BT------BBT3-------BT----

0870

Weekday--Evening---Weekend

BT
13.1p + 7.6p/min.-1p/min. _0p*/min.(* up to 60 minutes)

18185--- --- 5p +
3p/min. -3p/min.---2p/min.
0808 1703703 5p + 3p/min.- 3p/min.- -1p/min.

1899--

5p + 3p/min. -3p/min.---2p/min.
18866-- ---- 5p + 3p/min. -3p/min.---2p/min.

All prices include VAT @ 20%

So, on a cost-per-minute basis, the cheapest routing for 0870 calls appears to be:
0870
Weekday--Evening---Weekend
08

18185
BT3-------BT

I hope this is the best thread to ask for this help - I did try an search but didn't find anything better!!
I've suffered a disk crash, losing all my data and am trying to rebuild everything.
I looked on the Orchid site for a link to get a new copy of CW Client and to get my log in details sent out, but couldn't find the information or links.
Can anyone help me at all - I have already sent an email to Orchid so when they start again on Monday they might be able to help, but wondered if anyone knew a quicker way to get going again?!
Thanks.

Download CW Client from THIS PAGE;

Download the Quick Start User Guide (I'd recommend print and retain) from HERE.

I don't think there's an online way to recover your login details so, if you can't remember them, you'll probably have to wait until Orchid reply to your e-mail.
