Slow Cooker - The Recipe Collection

No, never heard of that one. Handy though, being able to brown the meat already in the pot.0

Another one Im trying tomorrow although it involves a bit of cooking first:
Cheesey Layer Bake......
Beth, I sort of tried this - put the potatoes in raw though and they could have done with being a little bit softer. Also I used Swiss Ementhal cheese and that didn't melt properly, just went into large blobby pieces. The smell was gorgeous though.
I think you could put apples in this, too and have it with pork chops.
Thnx for recipe - will try it with cheddar next time.0 -
just try cooking dried fruit salad ( prunes apricots etc.) in the slow cooker over night... good value from Holland and Barnett, they often have it on offer.
add cold tea, sultanas brown sugar, raisins, orange peel, ginger cinnamon stick great flavour even a dash of wine/ cider doesnt go a miss
Great favourite with everyone once they try it with good old custard, cream, ice cream or have it for breakfast yummy
I also cook my marmalade peel in the slow cooker saves watching the pot and as I leave the pith pips etc in the jelly bag dripping over night as well saves loads of time and I think it gives a better flavour0 -
yum yum, Nancye0

(I can't beleive the bigger one is cheaper than the smaller one on Amazon?)
I was going to buy the £33 one from Asda then I saw the Amazon one on here so I ordered it from there.
It arrived this morning, can't wait to start trying some of these fab recipies. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
I'm finding my new slow cooker really useful..put it on before the kids go to school, and meals already for when they get home!..great. but
I'm just a bit worried about the electric bill! Does anyone know if they are expensive to run..even on low..the pot gets very hot and remains so for hours!
thanks0 -
Im pretty sure they are cheap to run. The leaflet that came with mine doesn't say anything but Im sure I read somewhere that they are economical.0
