Morning peeps
Kat enjoy the weekend, there is always monday to start again and the wedding and you are going to be fab so enjoy:j
honey The library practically know me as their friend the amount of time I go in there to ask for yet another library book relating to low fat, weight loss etc:D :rotfl: but no, I asked and they have a very limited recipe selection and all those ones I have had...
My H is getting into stir fries, I printed off a recipe from the diabetics UK website...thai chicken stir fry and he loved it, that one and the prawn one in the WW mag a while back, tonight he has something with salmon, I think it is the cook from fresh with herbs and spices that he loves and it really brings out the flavour so he is having a whale of a time:rotfl:
puddings I agree with you, that is what I have done avoidance of food places that cater like that but that in the long run is unrealistic, there has been the odd rumbling here in this house hold that we are more house bound than we used to be because of me and the weight loss:rotfl: :rotfl:
I know I will have to face it sooner or later , I was offered to go to pizza hut but just have the salad, I knew that would not happen really so did not go, end of.
Suggs Thank you, my H has come up with this theory of either like you said the scales were not flat or when I was being weighed I moved unintentionally thus producing a wrong reading:eek: I am not sure on either but what I am positive on is that 48 hours later I stood so still and got the reading I should have got on tuesday:D
Lois heart felt thanks for adjusting the chart to include my loss this week and other losses, it is very much appreciated the time you put into it, thank you.0 -
Hope you have a lovely weekend Kat - You knock 'em dead but try not to outshine the bride
Lois - pajamas? Couldn't you find any clothes that you liked?
The chart is really quite inspirational. It's good to nosey at for motivation.
Where do some of you find these smilies and avators? Honestly! There are some hilarious ones coming into the messages and yes, I just thought of it because of puddings last message :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a great weekend.0 -
Hello (hides) can I join please.
I can not go on like this, since having the kids (first one now 9) I have gained about half a stone a year every year, and it has to stop. Lightbulb moment was at the weekend realising I was to heavy for the bumper boats at a fair (16st) but thinking about it just makes me hungry.
My target is to lose 4.5 stone, which will leave me at a normalish managable weight.
But where do I start? I have lost weight many years ago with weight watchers when they did their 1-2-3 thing and it told you what to eat every day, have tried SW, but its not disaplined enough for me, I have to be told what to have each day, I can't choose or I think about it all day.
Can anyone recommend anything to me.?Always on the hunt for a bargain0 -
Any one doing anything exciting this weekend?
It's OH & sis's OH birthdays next week so we are having a BBQ (again) they are all coming here tonight & my fridges are full of booze & meat  and a choc mint cheesecake which i made yesterday
absolutely nothing healthy cos its the boys party & they moan we are too healthy all the time & they never get to eat what they want :rotfl:
never mind i will enjoy & then day 1 tomorrow
lois i've followed your instructions on how to get my model pics on here, hope it works!
DD reckons it looks quite like me, she says my hair is a little shorter & my arms a little fatter, kids hey :rotfl:
i did try the one of me before i started but i didnt look any different  the bottom pic is of me at 11st which i guess is where i'm aiming for in the long term
i tell you what though, if i do look like that i'm quite pleased because i'm much larger when i look in the mirror
have a good weekend everyone & enjoy the end of the hols

I haven’t had time to read through the thread this morning so I would like to say well done to all losers and maintainers and better luck next time to any one who gained. You know who you are! :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
I have just read an article in Glamour Magazine about how to find your ideal weight and work out how many calories you actually need. I thought I would share it with you……
First find your BMI. Most diet sites have a calculator for this but for those who want to figure it themselves the formula is:
Your weight in pounds / your height in inches / your height in inches X 703 = BMI
A healthy BMI is considered to be between 18.5 and 24.9 The BMI doesn’t measure body fat though and could incorrectly label a muscular lady as overweight…
Right next to find out if you need to lose or gain:
To calculate you metabolism you need to find your resting metabolic rate. This is the number of calories your body burns just breathing.
To calculate your RBM you need to know your ‘adjustment factor’
If your BMI is 24 or less your factor is 11
For a BMI of 25 to 29.9 your factor is 10
For a BMI of 30 to 39.9 your factor is 9
and for a BMI of 40 or more your factor is 8
The formula to find your RMR =
Your weight in lbs X Your adjustment factor = your resting metabolic rate
To find the calories you need to maintain weight you need to figure out your activity level number you need an activity factor number:
Rarely active = 1.2
Exercise 3 times a week = 1.3
5 times a week = 1.4
Everyday = 1.7
The formula to find your calorie needs =
RBM x activity factor = calories you need to maintain weight.
I calculated my daily calories needed to maintain weight as 1874 a day. For three weeks I maintained at 1400 calories or less a day and lost only 1lb when I cut to 1250 a day so if the calculations have any basis in fact I guess they don’t account for those who have been on a diet a while!0 -

Hi Dixie - well done for your weight loss. :T
You can make cheese sauce without using too many syns if you reserve your Healthy Extra A's for the milk and cheese.
Here's how I do it: 1 tbsp cornflour, 700mls skimmed milk , 56g cheddar cheese or 84g reduced fat cheddar cheese. Mix the cornflour with a little of the milk, and heat the remaining milk, then add the warm milk to the cornflour/milk mixture, stir, then return to the pan and bring to the boil, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and add the grated cheese, stir until the cheese has melted, then pour over your cauliflower.
This recipe serves two and uses 3.5 syns for the cornflour and 2 HE(A)s per serving.

Hi Play
Thanks for the information, it's very useful. I'm interested to see that the magazine quotes a healthy BMI as being between 18.5 and 29.4, as I was under the impression that anything over 25 was overweight - has there been some relaxation in thinking about this?
