12 Months? Jesus christ, I could be dead in 12 months!

    Drama queen lol :p:p

I only know this cos I made the same mistake and applied twice, then she rung and told me to wait 12 clear months since lasp app and so long as my hsbc accounts continue to run the same i'd be accepted.

They work with your HSBC behaviour score as well, which is good, as the cards are processed from HSBC itself - its not outsourced like Barlays/Thomas Cook etc....

    Nice :p:p

Lolz they declined me without performing a search, too :rotfl:

Having read your post this is likely due to my failed HSBC current account app from last month?

who declined you mate? JLP? Have you just went and applied?

    LOL

Ermm, well that wouldn't be linked. I'll try and explain this, bear with me.

As you applied for an account with HSBC you'd have been given an opening behaviour score, this allows them to determine what, if any, product(s) you can have at the time of application.

So, you applied for the bank account and got declined, that means as far as HSBC (as an organisation) is concerned, you're not eligible for any credit product for at least 6 months. Ergo, in 6 months you could apply for a bank account and be accepted, who knows.

However, as JLP state there is a 12 month gap between applying for their card, this means that you'd have to wait a full 12 months and their system will pull up the decline from your bank account thus rendering your application as void - ergo, no credit score was ever issued.

That said, the HSBC credit card states 8 months between applications but it is in fact 6, as I applied and got declined then applied again after 6 months and was accepted on refer. So I think, what i'm trying to say is if you apply for a HSBC partner card, it is a 12 month wait. If you have been declined from another partner card, or HSBC you'll get auto declined as they will always revert to the original behaviour score unless at least 6 months have passed.

I do hope all this makes sense and i'm not waffling..... :D:D

(Yea, just applied for JL Partnership card)

So in essence it seems very likely that the decline was due to the frankly appauling score assigned to my bank account app in February because that app searched Experian as well as Equifax.

Fine, thanks for clearing that up!

I'd rather have a decline without a footprint that with :D

Looks like it's Sygma & Barclaycard for the long haul for me...

  • Im thinking of applying for a sygma card.

Which one has the best chance of an approval?
Which one is the best overall card?

    Apply here:

If, like me, your score isn't fantastic, they'll pop you on 24.9% APR instead of 18.9%
