    Hi FannyHill

After the initial 18 months is over if you wish to leave you are free to do so.

    Stuart

    OK Thanks.
  • I would just like to let everyone know that if you are trying to get connected with BT then ask them for free connection, they are not allowed to offer it but if you ask they will give it to you. Tried it yesterday and it works. Have to agree to an 18 month contract - no biggie, and make at least 10 calls a month, which can be part of your inclusive free calls, again, no big deal.

Not sure how they get away with it but it works so ask! If you don['t ask, you don't get!

  • Hello,

am new to this forum but thought I would reply to this post from Kelly1980. BT still have a special offer on the connection charge. You can get free connection so long as you agree to an 18 month contract and make 10 calls per month. You must procatively ask for this by quoting free connection as the operators are not allowed to offer it.

  • Hi BT representative

I have recently moved in to a property and called BT to connect the line. I was told that it had been disconnected and I would have to pay the full reconnection charge or take out a broadband/tv package to get a reduction. I have since checked the line and there was a dial tone and the previous tenants have advised me they were with BT right up until a day or two before I moved in. Does this sound correct, the BT website advises most people do not have to pay a connection charge?

    Thanks

If there is a working line at that address you should not have to pay a charge to activate the telephone service at that address. If you PM me any address or order details you have, I will take a look to see if this charge has been raised correctly.

    Thanks

  • Having a similar problem myself.

Moved into a flat, not a new build and with a phone line installed. Rang BT initially to find out whether the phone line was connected and was told it was and offered deals etc, but decided to consult with my partner. Rang them back and got a different person who told me it was not connected and I would have to pay the full £120+!

Yet to try out the actual line with a phone and ascertain whether there's a dial tone, but will do that tonight. So I'm a bit in the dark on whether the charges are valid in my case or not.
