Just called BT on 0800 100 444 (cheers meinnit) and spoke to a lady called Sam, I asked for the cutomer options team and when she asked why, I mentioned the offer to which she said she knew about it and processed my order, the whole thing probably took no more than 20 minutes. When I was asked about if there was a socket I just replied yes as there is a socket that my phone is plugged into and is separate from the cable connection. I figured that pleading ignorance was the safest bet given some of the problems people have had in dealing with the Sales department, after all any half decent Openreach engineer should be able to use a screwdriver to replace the socket shoudn't they
I've got an engineer coming on the 1st of July to fit the line and hopefully by then my number will be ported from Virgin Media :T0 -

Dont be too sure about this, we had a sky technician call to put our dish up about 4 weeks ago and he said "I am not allowed to use a screwdriver" when the terestrial arial cover needed to be removed inside the house!!!!!
Believe me, it seems that some of these folks are barely allowed to touch anything anymore, may aswell let us all do it ourselves and be done with it.0 -
I have been trying to get the free connection offer since friday and twice they have cancelled my order! Everytime get to make the order they cannot book an appointment for the engineer, they say they have to get back to me....they don't ...I check and am told my order has been cancelled.
I complained on the BT website and a lovely lady contacted me within a couple of hours, I thought GREAT! She put me back to sales who then just left me hanging on the line for over 30 mins! What can I do now????
I have gone back and emailed complaints again so fingers crossed this works.
Any other ideas?I want to complain to the advertising standards authority but don't know where the ad was shown originally.????
Can't afford to miss this one! And be beaten by BT that would be sad

I'd have loved to have been there to hear that... I'd have said "are you 'aving a laff!" I do know what you mean the 'elf & safety officers have a lot to answer for... You can just imagine someone like Harry Enfield on the installers training course going "Nooooooo, that's not the proper use of a screwdriver...! Nooooo" :rotfl:0 -
Hi,
I signed up for this but wish I hadn't now. My plan was to get the line installed and then add a TV and Broadband package to it. However due to our location the max BB speed is 0.5mb which means it cant support the BT Vision package.
The other alternative is to go with Sky, which for £16.50/month I get the basic level of channels, free BB, free calls and free sky+ box and installation BUT I have to pay £250 to get out of the 18 month contract.
So I would have been better to pay the £122 installation and then gone straight to Sky for their whole package.
Tried getting the O2 and Orange freebies as we run their monthly mobile contracts but they cant offer us BB at the location.
So its all a bit rubbish really.0 -
Don't worry leemsutton, the rest of us will each be paying a 50p/month tax to speed your broadband up in the near future.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Im tempted to go to the press regarding the outrageous quote I recieved. Im sure that they would be pretty keen to show images of what is probably the "THE most expensive piece of grass to dig a shallow trench through in the UK
"
Not sure that my partner hasnt already done the above, they are being extremely cagey , I know they have already posted a letter to ofcom.0 -
Can you take your existing number with you if you sign up for free installation? currently with virgin.0
