  • I`ve been having a bit of a debate (!) with the Managing Director of my weightloss scheme.I was only asking if they were going to publish proper results after the year is up.(Yes they are.) But it turns out that this guy (Name of Winton!!!) is quite anti low-carb.He `s of the opinion that" only a moderate balanced diet works". So, I sent him the Second Opinion link.....and he sent me this.
    BBC Diet trials. (My recollection of the programme, was that it was sloppily done.) If anyone`s interested;

I shall have to get some then:beer:
Well I think it's a good idea, does it show? :rotfl:

Forgot, I did try it like for like for half the butter in the almond biscuit recipe to which I added cocoa. Very pleasant. Gave the biscs a definitive 'snap' when er snapped :) very tasty all round.

Ted has much to say on coconut oil, he's bought 10kg of the stuff :) Think he must like it too. :rotfl:

Think shykins posted a choc treat using coco oil too. Sounded nice but not tried it yet as off sweet things for a bit.

Hi all, used that tesco value pasta sauce, (was low carb) not nice, someone did warn me it was gloop, had strange consistency, very synthetic looking. Made chilli with it (no beans) and had small amount in a rolled 'pancake' was a nice change but make my own sauce next time.

Also got some reduced price whipping cream from sainsburys, not had it before, quite runny til its whipped so tried it in tea and was very good.

Yes-I think it was me who called it gloop! However-its much better with fresh basil and some tomato puree added. On its own it tastes weird I think!
Its a good standby but homemade is so much nicer!

Ooh, thanks sweet, i haven't thought of having tinned salmon, that'd be a nice change for my salad. I always sprinkle over some chopped feta, makes it look soo nice.

Brekky is difficult for me, getting slightly fed up of eggs, only slightly tho as i love em.

On the topic of tinned salmon :)

    I make Mercy's Salmon Treats!

    Goes like this.

3/4 Large tin of salmon (400g?)
    2 beaten eggs
    black pepper
    doesn't need salt

I take apart the salmon, removing spine bones and skin. Often eating them as I go :) then remove 1/4 for the cats.

In a measuring jug mix salmon and beaten egg. Mix well til a uniform paste

Heat a little butter in a large frying pan and add mixture.

When cooked on one side, turn over. I split the mix into easy to handle pieces.

Cook again until done. I use a spatula to cut into sections and maybe turn again. You know when it's done as egg goes golden brown both sides.

This is nice as a weekend breakfast treat with mayo. I have also had it later in the day with mayo and mixed salad.

Once cooked the salmon/egg pieces are quite dry, firm and portable. Probably good for lunches too.

Always share with the cats as I'd have no peace otherwise :) Once they have a belly full of protein I dont see em for a couple of hours.

Like the salmon idea Mercy - I have some salmon fillet so will try it on them - need something different to do with them (pre-cook and leave to cool). Actually might do them on Sat to take to the football along with a salad.

    Today I been mostly eating:
B - omelette with cheese, mushroom and spring onion
L - tuna mayo and salad
D - 'sausages', leeks and cabbage (cooked with butter I am a convert)
