I just wanted to say thank you to all who have posted an opened my eyes to the fact we are entitled to more that just a standard refund. I had my first over charge today although it was in Asda not Tesco's. Some lipsalves and antibacterial hand gel both went through at the wrong price so i got a refund and a £2.00 gift card which i was more than happy with. may see if they r still scanning at wrong prices tomorrow lol.
Thank you again an good luck xxx0 -
you have to watch tesco staff they are bloomin sneaky, I purchased an indoor aerial should have been £19 was charged £25, went to Cs who went off to check (stoopid me didnt follow) and returned to say they didnt have any of that product and no SEL,
she had cleared an entire shelf (must have been about 20 of these things) and then her and the manager claimed they hadnt had any stock for weeks ! when i asked where the one i purchased came from they just shrugged,
i was fuming and so angry at being treated this way, to make it worse i couldnt get through to cs and then had a family illness so never got to pursue my complaint,
she wont do that to me again though . . . . . .

I don't have an asda near me only several Tesco. When Asda give you the £2 gift card do you get a full refund and get to keep the item ie. tescos old R&R +£2Please don't critasize my spelling0 -

Did you get one gift card- or one gift card per item that you were over-charged for?
Asda's Policy is to issue a £2.00 gift card per item.0 -

Asda's Policy is to issue a £2.00 gift card per item.
Asda have now changed their policy wording to read "per transaction" the new wording is on their website, for biggysilly:, the Asda policy is to refund the overcharged amount plus 1 x £2 giftcard per transaction. Not r&r.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Now I'm a little confused. I was in my local store today (Stornoway...store has been there for 7 months) and I bought a large bag of pistachio nuts. SEL was £4.99, charged £7.49. When I went to CS they offered me the difference only...but I pointed out to them that the T&Cs beside them said "in the unlikely event we overcharge you, we'll give you your money back and you get to keep the product". Now I said, that they should be giving me £7.49....as giving me £2.50 meant I'd just bought the item...and lucky me, was getting to keep the product too!
So the manager came along and said that we usually give double, but pointed out that the T&Cs said different (and the staff on CS said they had been told to only ever pay out the difference....ggggrrrrr!!). So to stop me getting irate, as there were other customers at CS, the manager gave me £7.49 out of the till plus product.
Now I'm really confused, because I remember when R&R was the policy before, but I thought that it had been changed. If it's double the difference now, it would seem very odd that a new store would be displaying R&R T&Cs? I fully expect the T&Cs to *disappear* by the time I'm next in, but it really annoys me when Tescos make me feel like the thief when I'm just asking them to honour their promise!! Is this a mistake in Stornoway? Is the policy now R&R?
It's so annoying as well that they have been telling their staff (new staff!!!) to only give the difference and cheat customers out of what they are due!! I've a right mind to write to the local newspaper!!

There have been several instances recently where r&r have been given, however our resident helper advises that there has been no policy reverse, I suspect some stores may be using in because their staff have so much difficulty calculating dtd on catchweight products. If they are displaying r&r though they must honour it, if displaying both then whichever is to YOUR best advantage must be employed.
This is something that goes with the territory I'm afraid.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Write to BBC watchdog via the bbc website- thats what I did- at the moment they have a ratings thing on to look for the best supermarket. I slated tescos and rated all of the others. You never know, enough people could get them to investigate and get something sorted out insted of us customers having to go and pretty much instruct staff on how to run the place!0 -
Asda have now changed their policy wording to read "per transaction" the new wording is on their website, for biggysilly:, the Asda policy is to refund the overcharged amount plus 1 x £2 giftcard per transaction. Not r&r.
Ahh, thank you ben500, I never knew they had changed their policy wording!
