You can sell a brand new nokia 6220 on ebay for anywhere between £150-200. Orange offered me this phone for £10, on a £10 a month retention tariff, I sold the phone online and now my 18 month contract is essentially free!

Thanks for that!, do you think this phone is locked to orange though, how would i know without using it to find out?
No one said it was gonna be easy!

    Hi

Just off phone from orange about hour ago.

    Got

    18 month contract
    Samsung G600
    UNLIMTED texts
    200 minutes

    free bluetooth headset

I am going to try sell the phone and the bluetooth headset. (i am happy with my current nokia 6300) for around £100 and therefore the lifetime cost of the contract is £4.44 per month!

:-) (as long my current phone still works!!!)
  • I've just been on the phone to orange, my contract expires in just over a month, so I was phoning up to see what they could offer me!

Currently on dolphin plan £40/month for 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

They offered me same plan for £20/month for first 9 months and £25 for the next 9 months, though the guy did say I could probably have the whole contract at £20 a month. Choice of new phones etc.

This seems like a good deal to me - I like orange, have found them to be better than o2 etc.

My only query is that they said I have to phone up the day after my contract expires to get this deal - 21st December, which is fine, but obviously if I decide not to go for it I still have to give a months notice, which therefore could mean I'm with them an extra month! Does that make sense??

I think I'm just looking for some feedback on whether or not this is a good deal - I can't seem to find the same amount of minutes/text for this price so I think it is - even with the cashback deals around, I'd have to find a deal with £270 cashback to break even, as it were - I guess by going through orange there is none of the hassle!

Right ramble over - would appreciate any feedback! Thanks
Student loan debt - Can't bear to think about it! Prob £15,000. arrghh!
  • Called Orange yesterday as I'm now out of contract, last year i got a VERY good deal, so wasn't too surprised when the guy said he wouldn't be able to match it. (last year got 2000 loyalty mins, free phone insurance and money off).

Anyway said I could have £15 off an 18 month tariff and £10 off a 12 month and a free phone, and that was it- no insurance, no loyalty minutes :( any ideas??
  • Hi,

    Just managed to get:

    500 Any Net Mins
    100 Texts
    Unlimited Landline Calls
    SE C902

    £15 per month.

As I was already paying £15 per month for 225 mins and 100 texts, I thought this was an excellent deal.

  • well there does seem to be something odd going on at Orange. This deal was not available from all of their operators so its worth trying a few times...

I ended up being offered :

    1200 mins
    500 txts
    blackberry internet allowance
all you can eat internet access
    insurance
    new blackerry pearl titanium

all for the princely sum of £5 a month,

no i couldnt believe it either and neither could the next operator i spoke to. I said I woudl ring back to the first one as i needed to check out the handset, which incidentally is pants but have put the sim in my old blackberry so i am reasonably happy.

That said its not an iphone which is what started teh conversation in the first place.

Also you should be aware that I do make a lot of international calls, i also have another £25 a month phone and a £15 a month modem on the same account so i guess they really wanted to keep me !
