Unfortunately offshore accounts are no longer tax free, so any income will still count in your personal allowance. Search for 'European Savings Tax Directive' for details. Basically you can either choose to have tax deducted at 20% (goes up in the next few years) or the bank can send the details to HMRC - you might have to fill in a tax return.
Unless the rates are better there's nothing to be gained by going offshore. Also remember IoM has a 75% of first £20,000 compensation scheme - much worse than UK.0 -
Hello all,
how much money do people have in the KP savings as I have £1,500 and not sure if its worth having that amount there. I have my allocated amount (£6,300) with Barclays ISA and due to open a A&L current account.
thanks for the reply0 -
Hi - it depends how much interest A&L current account are paying - if less than KE then I suggest KE are better as long as you are happy to wait for 3-4 working days for any transfers from or to KE as I dont think they are part of the faster payment serviceKeep the Faith:cool:0

thanks for the reply- 6.50%AER, 0.35% bonus for 1st 12 months
- Withdrawals can be made instantly and no notice will be required. No interest is earned on the account balance in any calendar month in which a withdrawal is made or the account is closed.
If you are unlikely to go above £2500, you could go for their current account @8.5%( seeing as you mentioned it) and just rotate £500 per month for the funding requirements.
Otherwise I'd leave the money there.0 -
