That's a steal, cracking find.
There's a few beauties near me right now, however this one is a good shout. Perfect first car, 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, good condition and low low mileage:

Before anyone says, no, it's not had a Punto engine fitted, the Sporting models came with a Punto engine as standard. Quite nippy :P0 -
I've changed tact and just started repairing what I wasn't willing to get shot of for buttons.
Spent about £500 on our Grand Voyager to put another years MOT on it. It had been sitting in the drive for about 6 months, tried to sell it for £500 but had no joy.
Since it had timing belt/water pump etc a couple of years ago and new alloys/tyres about the same time, decided it was probably better than getting something else.
That put the Merc off the road. Couldn't get £400 for it so that's lay for the past 6 months.
It needed a windscreen, that cost £120. Just to put it in for it's MOT now.
Then I'll fill our Passat Estate with as much metal as I can muster and weigh it in. It cost £850 last July I'm sure (with 6 months tax and a years MOT) and hoping to get £250 back. That's approximately £65 per month to own it.
Cant be too bad at that0 -

I'm driving a Punto Sporting at the moment and it's a right little pocket rocket compared to my last 206 1.4 slugger.0 -

New windscreen (£198) and needed 2 tires, so I've spent another £400 on it (so total cost about £750)
For a £1500 car, I still think that's bargain, although insurance is more than on my XF (I'm 31)💙💛 💔0 -

Really? With all those mods?!
I missed the mods, apologies. Without the mods it'd be a perfect first car. As soon as I saw the words 'cone filter' that was it, interest gone. Can't be doing with Barry boys.
Regarding the crash test, very few hatchbacks do that well in these tests and especially older ones, however if the crash test is something you base your decision on then surely the best option (and everyone will say I'm biased), is a Lupo.

It's only when compared to similar hatchbacks that you see why they're renowned for safety yet in a small shell and they go for a good price.0 -
Just bought a Renault Megane 1.6 on a 51 plate with 94K on the clock for £400 this afternoon. Full year MOT until next March, 4 new tyres although the fronts are a different brand to the rear and has just been serviced (oil and filters changed). Ticks over and drives nicely.
Just needs taxing and it's an eye watering £175 a year
Not had a good going over of it yet but it'll do for my needs for a while.
Photos from the seller, I'll take some proper photos when I get round to giving it a clean.

That Megane looks amazing condition for £400!
I dont get something with the ST; 40mpg in town, best I can manage on the motorway (70-80) is about 35, average fuel consumption (this has been done in 20l sets and has just had its first full tank in the 600mi I've driven it) is working about 7.5l/100km, so about 37mpg.
Granted, I'm not driving like idiot, but it's only a drop of about 10 from my XF 3.0, which for £350 and comparable performance can't be bad!💙💛 💔0
