So, it begins again.
1999 (old shape) Mondeo. 2.0 Petrol Manual. Looks like hell because the bumpers are wrecked and rattle canned (definately a mondeo then). One small patch of surface rust at the back of the drivers sill.
110k, FSH, recent cambelt, MOT to October, £350. Even got a CD player.
Immediate jobs. Find a pair of back tyres (reckon there's some in the shed), evict the rust before it crawls up the arch. Buy some tax. Buy a parcel shelf, try and find some bumpers that aren't wrecked, gaffer taped and rattle canned.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Love it. My type of car.

What is it with bangers and the loss of the parcel shelf?
How do they lose the parcel shelf!0 -
scotsman - Yeah, with the miles I do, I should have diesels, but.
New ones are finicky and I can't mend them myself.
Old ones just aren't something I want to be living with for mile after mile.
Lee - it was in bits, so it got binned. Know what you mean though!Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

It's been a while since I've bought a car with a parcel shelf. They've all had load covers or been saloons for the past wee while.
Must be an age thing.0 -

The Focii both have a parcel shelf, as did the Mazda 6 I was running for a while.
I prefer load covers, as it means you don't have to fiddle with everything to get something big in the boot (in my main car, pull and release to get the cover to retract.
Skive, I have a parcel shelf from a 1996 (pre-facelift) Mondeo hatch in the garage somewhere (I think it didn't get thrown)
If it will fit, you're local and you want it, send me a PM and I'll arrange to drop it off/for you to pick it up.
