    Hi all :j

The flowers for August are the Gladioli and the Poppy which represents beauty, strength, love, marriage and family.

Picking beauty as I think I definitely have let this slide lately. no beauty treatments today although I did get ready & go down to the free talk. Also popped into the SM spent 9€. Will be hard to get any more NSDs for a while as need to get food in tomorrow for visitors, then they will be here & it will be spend spend spend I expect.

Aim – for 15 NSD’s 1/15 still as spends today

Update (Budgets) – DH called Virgin eventually managed to get DD down to half what we were paying, though they were reluctant & initially refused to honour their offer, despite promising he could have overnight to decide ...

Will be able to save for hols now DH is drawing down an income.

Get (prepared for Xmas) – Took a pair of socks that I finished for DH to the library for them to put in their Wool Exhibition. I won't see it as it starts after we get back & finishes before we go again. Hopeful they will keep them as they are part of his Christmas present.

Utilise (free activities in your area) - Did go to the free talk today which was about herbs, given by a herbalist. Did learn a few things I didn't know, sadly no free refreshments though...

Share (money saving tips) – done this week

Treat (yourself) – I would like everyone to budget £3 for a luxury item, I think this will be some twinings, but will decide later

The challenge will run from 1st August 00:01 until 31st August 00:00.

Off to work in a minute so I better get ready.

Indigowarrior  on the debt plan and booking counselling. Your own place, taking on the debt and looking after yourself? Gold stars all round :j

    NSDx2 yesterday and also a NAD :A

Managed to get a bit of quiet time and contemplation this morning, now I need to dive into the housework as we have a guest for lunch. DH is cooking :D

Free stuff: may take the boys out for a walk with our guest later. Might even try for a weekend NSD, that rarest of beasts ;)

Another tip - never impulse buy. I'm terrible at this and am painfully teaching myself to stop (for at least 24 hours) and think before I buy the thing that I am convinced I absolutely need. Most of the time I don't :rotfl:

My tumble drier part arrived yesterday, DH fitted it and it is now working again so £6.35 instead of £169.99 for a new one. That would be my money saving tip - when something goes wrong google the problem and check YouTube for a solution before replacing.

Spent yesterday on a fleece, a thin wool top for walking (specialist design), it is really cold on the hills even in good weather and a thin layer is great, and a pair of very expensive running shoes - all came from the CS and cost just over £11 in total. The running shoes have been worn once or twice at most and are totally immaculate, they would have ben £120 new.

Went blackberrying yesterday and got loads again, ate some as they were, froze some and had a good amount on my porridge this morning with some raspberries from the garden. DH & DD have gone to the Park Run, it is their first time, DH has gone because DD can't get there on her own. I can't run in the morning for some weird reason so I am going cycling up a big hill instead.

Ooh I nearly forgot, I have a confession. Whilst we were away last week we came across a shoe shop selling off all its stock at very low prices and I got a pair of Dr Martens crazy horse boots reduced from £129.95 to £50, I am a Docs addict and the standard colours rarely have more than £10 off, it was very restrained of me to just get one pair, they also had Birkenstocks for £30, I really wanted some but they only had toe post ones in my size - phew.

Twinings is on offer in Mr M's - £3 instead of £5 for the big boxes
    Serendipity

Aim: Still on NSD1- today will not be a NSD still stocking the house with, erm...food.
Using up my last tube of anti-wrinkle face cream (gift from m-i-l for christmas - a gift with an edge of spite)
Get Xmas prepping - I still have DS1 DS2 DH and DS4 birthdays to do before Xmas. Really I should be used to it after 9 years, but it creeps up on me every time.
Utilise - free stuff on today - Leicester Caribbean Carnival, Ping session - free table tennis in same park 12-6
Share - sign up to prolific academic for decent paying surveys, you can cash out at £5 into paypal account and it is in your bank in less than 24 hrs. Love this site. And there is no screening out. They only send surveys you can actually do, and most of them are short and pay well.
    Treat yourself - Twinings!

Personal sucess! I am only slightly behind on the Mortgage Free Wannabe overpayment challenge spreadsheet. Onwards!!!

    Morning all
I slept late this morning  which is almost unheard of for me. Not sure how I still managed to wake up with a headache though. However I'm up, I've had a drink and a couple of paracetamol, reconciled YNAB, washed the dishes, fed the cats and set some washing away.
No real plans for today, ds stayed at his dad's last night so I'll have to pick him up later. Other than that, I'll sit here with my squash, watching telly and hoping that this headache disappears very soon

Afternoon all, just checking in for the day. Didn't get to have my bubble bath and prosecco last night as I started to feel quite ill, so I just had an early night instead. Will try again tonight.

Walked a friend's dog this morning and have just been cleaning the house, putting away washing, cleaning up after the bunnies and just doing chores. On a positive note the last two days have been NSD's.

Tomorrow I'll be out volunteering and then horse riding. Am hoping it'll be slightly cooler but I think I might be hoping in vain!
