    Thanks Pavlovs dog!
It's something I've still not ventured into - a friend made about 1k over 4 months off it, which sounds like a good deal as well as good fun - we both are quite analytical and enjoy spreadsheets etc.

I think it'll be something to do in a few months once I've read everything in a lot of detail and understand how to play this system.

You tempted to indulge some time soon too?

alas no... too many over things going on that i really ought to be concentrating on. Perhaps once I've got a better grip on the household finances I'll look into it more but i think i'd be foolish to take it up at the moment.

I was going to do it this summer (July 2010) but didn't do it as we were re-mortgaging and I felt it would look silly to have lots of betting transactions whilst trying to prove we are a sensible punt on a mortgage!
Since then we both work hard, and so the moment has passed us by.
Hope you get your house in order soon pavlov.

    but...
    Job well done!
    Another thousand off
    £38k to go.

It's only through raiding all our savings and focussing on this mortgage and nothing else that we have been able to lower this. It was also due to a build up of money over the past few months, that once we spent what we needed for Christmas we were able to pay some more off the mortgage, and it feels very good. Quite addictive in fact.

A small saving made today too:
Rang BT And have re-contracted with them for another year, but at a saving of £17 a month..
Now Line rental: 13.60, BT Vision 12:50 and Option 3 internet at 13:00 - a total of £39.10, a saving of over 17 pounds a month compared to what we paid in December. Ouch.
We like Vision and had no plans to move, so the extra £17 a month will go on to the mortgage too. Winner. Made me smile!

    Well done :T
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Paid in what was free at the end of the week.
So £37950 to go. I just like the fact that it's the same trick as when you buy something for 9.99 rather than 10.00.
It's still 38000 to all intents and purposes :)

aren't meant to be spent doing my finances, but I did them.
Fortunately for me, I itemised all expenditure this morning and to my surprise, found that we don't pay water rates in Dec-March, car insurance (month 12/12) and union fees for Jan-March.

It all means that I'm suddenly £90 "up" on where I thought I was yesterday, not bad for just checking my DD outgoings and which months I don't pay etc.

    Good news all round.
