Testing new signature - but can't seem to do it! Oh wait I can... A button says "show your signature"...

Any ideas on improving my signature? It's pretty simple at the moment.

  • No spend day, had a big shop for friends today, about 30 over for afternoon tea. Lovely. Tired now.
Supposed to be marking coursework; not quite energised to do it.
Will work for a few hours then switch off. Tomorrow needs to be down time as I'm pretty much spent :( 3 weeks to go till half term, that's what I'm looking forward to it definitely.

  • Aims for the week: Not spend a lot - can be done. Have done big shop this week... Get paid on Monday night so hopefully an overpayment can be made, plus a syphon off of the wife's money. Great! Had a terribly busy week last week, one of those where lots of external factors collide to result in very little time to yourself and you gradually get spread very thin. This week I hope is calmer and although there's pressure at work, it can be manageable and not too stressful. We shall see.
Anyway, am pleased at how savings are going at the moment, I think being in education it means you are in the position where we aren't really feeling the economic cuts, in that our jobs are a) enjoyable, b) permanent and c) we get paid a fair salary. I have nothing but sympathy for people who are feeling the pinch and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Anyway, hopefully we can have a really cheap February - in my mind, 4 weekends, and 2 of those are spent over half term, and we've paid for a holiday away with friends. So, continue or saving and cutting our costs where possible. Aiming to continue to save as much as we can; Planning somewhere nice for our summer holiday, we agreed to spend a decent amount on a decent holiday this summer.

Finally, Mrs OM makes it all possible, being totally supportive of the MFW dreams, and not spending a lot on herself. If she wasn't on board, it really would be an upwards struggle.

Enough rambling, I think it's the ale talking, but I appreciate people writing from the heart so I thought I would open up as to where we're going.

Hi OM, hope this week is calmer for you and work stress is reduced. I know what you mean about feeling like you've been spread thin. Not long until half term now!

  • Thanks, a much better day, not long to go :) And pay day always helps. AM sadly marking coursework tonight which is boring. I feel it's just a busy block of time at the moment, hopefully calm down after half term then be pretty busy until Easter. Hmm.

  • 1k off today. Taken from the wife's salary. Now £36k. Will aim to clear a bit more off in a week or so. Have had a tiring day, loads to do, never seems to end. Have gone out of my way to pay in some cheques (60 quid) which is good; I don't add them to my bank balance so when they go in, I can take it off the mortgage. A little bonus as it were! Target of 22k off at the end of the year looks very "do-able" - Need to average out at 22k saved, I need to save £1833 a month. Having done 6k since January means we're 2.4k "up" on where we need to be. So I think I might have to set a more realistic target on how much we can save by the end of this year.

    :)keep overpaying!
  • Another 1k off - down to 35k now.

It will slow down soon, I think 2k a month is the realistic scenario we can hope for, but whilst our bank balances are feeling healthy, we keep on overpaying.

Busy day ahead too, pleased it's coming up to the weekend :)

  • An admin evening ahead, sorting and filing paperwork. Currently fills three large A4 ring binders. I think I've got everything as "efficient" as need be with not much wastage, but it's pretty boring. At least it's cold outside so I don't feel guilty about not being outside. A glass of ale and an early night is in store for me - talk about rock and roll. Oh some cheques (value £52 are in my account too) are now in my bank, a little overpayment waiting to be made I think, but I'll wait until next week. I've started posting most days now, must be addictive I guess.

  • a cheap week!
    Have done the essentials -
    Car filled to the brim
Food in for a good week and a half
Bit of cash for lunch at work
Meal out at the weekend with friends
Trying to think of something nice and cheap for Valentines day - unsure what at the moment - call me a cheap romantic if you must!

Reading reports of interest rates rising (even by 0.25% means I'm even more keen to get stuff paid off and up front to our good friend Mr Bank Manager).

Any thoughts on romantic gestures for V Day?
