These sales jobs are commision only, the salesperson is in a property for 3/4 hours using all the sales techniques and training to make you purchase, vast discounts etc are offered(which don`t exist in the first place), as for the survey thats a joke, a former butcher/fork lift driver/van drive or any other profession is given a five day training course and become surveyors. Yeah right rings a few warning bells.
Once a customer agrees to having the system applied a fitting team are there within 48 hours to begin the works( once some muck is put on the wall the job is secure)
As for quality of works the fitting team(applicators) are in and out as quick as they can, a 3 bed semi takes five days minimum to complete, the customer is charged £6000 £7000 and higher and the fitting team get paid less than £1000 between 2 men. With rushed jobs corners get cut and customer complaints are high.
The systems do work are are a bit dearer than standard sand & cement but are better purchased through smaller businesses, you get it applied about 30% cheaper with a better hands of service.0 -
Just had one of their salespeople come round to tap my walls with a screwdriver (!) and spent about 2 hours telling me that i needed to spend £11,000 on their product to save myself years of expense (£80,000 by his calculations). The guy didn't even have headed notepaper to do his many drawings explaining the many obvious benefits of buying today.
He was a very poor salesman and had a bad attitude which was no problem for me to deal with but i could imagine someone elderly or more trusting would be intimidated by his aggressive/bullying sales pitch. He even told me that their skilled workmen may go somewhere else if they didn't get work and therefore wouldn't get paid! He did however stop short of telling me their children would starve if i didn't buy!
I do need work done to my house as the pebble dashing is very old cracked and blown so I thought I'd give him a chance to play his Michael Fish DVD and give me a quote but I was left very unimpressed and sent him packing, googled the company and glad i did! Not that I would ever buy something like this on the day but I thought i could learn something. Turns out i learned I'll never get those two hours back!0 -
Okay - I read this site too late.... I'm not sure what Andura Guard's status is now, but they had somebody around for a survey a few months ago - we welcomed them in since we know that the house does need some work. Since then we have called around the local trademen (found via checkatrade) and out of several that we've contacted, only two have visited: one just muttered a few numbers that were pretty high (I think the job was a bit big got him) and one other sent a proper quotation....
Subsequently the AnduraGuard guys called up to say they had a large job in the area that had been delayed and that they would offer a huge discount for any work started in the next 2 weeks.
The final AnduraGuard prices were a fraction more expensive (<5% more) than the local builders, but the AnduraGuard seemed a lot more detailed in terms of what they were saying they would do, plus I figured at worst, we'd just have to paint the coating if deteriorated at the rate of regular paint.
Now we haven't signed up for any of their finance deal (although were offered it), BUT I did sign* their "legal contract" to commit to getting the work done and we did give credit card details as the deposit for the work to start "ASAP" - we were told the manager who schedules all the work would call Mon/Tues to arrange a start later this week or early next week!
* I'm only on day two-three since signing - nobody has called yet and no money has been taken off the card yet.
I've had my card cancelled by my bank's fraud team several times in the last few years (due to travelling a lot), and due to recent travels, I was considering getting the bank to replace it anyway, but I figured time for me to pull the trigger and cancel it myself... I guess I can just explain that away and give new details if we want the work done by them.
Are the complaints around this company purely the prices, sales technique and loans?
Are there any recorded accounts of them doing a decent job or will they definitely ruin my house (especially if they're only getting paid close to regular commercial rate)...
thanks!

Further to the above comments:
The first sales rep had claimed that they were BBA registered: I've just looked it up - there is an "Andura Texured Masonry" company registered with the BBA, who have a product called "AnduraGard", but the company logo's and addresses are completely different to the Adura Guard company who were trying to sell us a very similar sounding product.
It's a shame - the sales pitch had a few bits of definite BS, but I expect that with most sales patter - but they didn't do a hard-sell, there was no dodgy loan agreement (we had the cash, but were paying via credit card), we know that the work does genuinely need to be done and their price is pretty close to everything else that we've seen so far.... but with everything I've been reading around the place and with a few key facts not matching up I'm going to check that I haven't signed away too much and see if I can still lean on that legal right to a 7 day cooling off period - I'll be calling ConsumerDirect first thing in the morning regardless, but does anybody have any advice for now?
Oh - it is morning, I'd better get to sleep0 -
I've just checked the bold and fine print:
I've left it downstairs in my bag to go to work tomorrow, so forgive any minor misquotes, but there are several counts of "nothing that you sign in this document will affect your consumer rights" and "you have a legal right to a 7 day cooling off period, this must be submitted in writing either in person or via Royal Mail registered post, but this notice will be considered as served as soon it is dispatched by yourself", "if notice is served after the work has commenced, then part payment may be requested", etc, etc... phew!! - after all the news above, I was expecting them to try every trick in the book in the fine print.... I'm still not expecting a smooth and easy ride, but at least the piece of paper that I have signed does confirm my legal rights as a I understood them
More news when I have it.
Now I AM going to bed!0 -
I have recently had Andura Guard complete work on the walls of my house. The pebble dash was blown and cracked in lots of places and I took a lot of interest in the methods they used. The process as shown on their website seems to have been followed exactly, the old loose and cracked pebble dash was removed and repaired where required. All in all the work seems to be of a very high standard and took just under two weeks to complete. The main coating is made by Andura Coatings Ltd of Bicester. If anyone is interested I can post some before and after pictures if someone can tell me how to do it if it's at all possible.
Please understand that I am simply someone who was cold called by Apex and took up their offer of a no obligation inspection of my walls. I have no connection with Andura Guard and am in no way endorsing their products - I simply say it as I see it.0 -

Well, what a lovely welcome to this forum... thank you so much
travellingbum, you really split my sides with your idea of humour (not).
So you have reported me for what exactly? As I believe I am the only one so far on this thread that has had any work done by them am I not allowed to tell other forum members of my experience - slagging them off is OK but heaven forbid any praise? If that's what this forum defines as spam then I despair.
As for the cost ormus it was around £12k.0
