AVOID AT ALL COSTS! bought a cabin from these guys back at the beginning of July and no sign of it and now struggling to get a refund. They said 4 weeks maximum for delivery but it has now been 9 and just keep getting same stories, its on its way, no its not, they sent the wrong one etc etc.
NIGHTMARE. No matter how polite etc the staff are, don't be fooled, they either have no idea what is going on or they just keep your money for a few months, get the interest, the take an age to refund you to squeeze the most they can.

I have finally got a full refund!!! On Monday they told me they transferred the money to my bank account, I waited until now & phoned the bank, guess what - no refund.
This morning I had had enough & contacted them, I was about to go to the police, trading standards, court etc. etc. After quite a battle I have received a refund via Paypal (because it's instant) & now ordered a log cabin from Waltons.
Good luck everyone, request you get a refund via Paypal or CHAPS bank transfer then it's instant.0 -

I too have had a bad experience with these people. Spent over £2k, and all I ever got were broken promises and no shows. After 6 weeks, requested my money back. All I will say is that the money was back within 24 hours, so at least they did that bit correctly.
I so wish I had seen this forum before making the purchase !
To anyone out there who has not yet bought, PLEASE DO NOT USE SM GARDEN BUILDINGS, they are awful.0 -
I was taken in too and ordered a log cabin. I confirm I have experience similar stories, plus have you had the ones about the computer/electricity supply being down when you rang up & getting a phone call asking you to be around in an hours time so the manager can ring you he never does? Have cancelled the order and was promised a refund within 3 days. I am contacting the credit card company as a precaution. Later I am going to send my story to watchdog and I encourage everyone to do the same. My friend thinks if they get a non-sale order for the same log cabin as you've ordered during the sale, then your log cabin will go to the person who ordered it at the "normal" price. The more I thought about this, the more I am convinced this is probably what's happening, and explains why some people don't get their goods and cancel through sheer frustration (they accepted my cancellation surprising quickly) Just look at how many times the price of the same summerhouses/log cabins changes.
PS I just joined this forum so I can post my story. Wish I had seen this forum earlier and would have course steered clear of the company.0 -
Hi All, we read this thread several weeks ago after we had ordered and paid for a cabin and had similar experiences in delay of delivery, etc, we had just got to the stage when we were about to ask for a full refund and were then given a final delivery date, and lo and behold it arrived, its now fully errected and the after service was very good, catalin fulfilled all his promises and we are pleased with the final, albeit delayed outcome,
we think that the lead time given is unrealistic and creates bad feeling and frustration
we have joined this forum because after reading other comments we thought you may like to hear a positive outcome,0 -
Hi Eventful, I am glad they gave you satisfaction in the end but I sincerely hope no-one will loose any money on the strength of your posting as its the only success story I have found on the internet. Out of curiosity, tell me to mind my own business if you like, but did you get your garden building at the full price or at the sale price and how long were you waiting for it? Cheers!0

Hi, had we read this forum before we ordered the cabin we would not have purchased one from them, we looked at their website which was comprehensive with money back guarantees etc, we did not post this thread to persuade customers to buy off them, we posted it to let those that have ordered know that we also had to wait but our cabin did turn up in the end
In answer to your question the cabin was at sale price and took 8 weeks to arrive when we were promised that it would arrive in 3
We did get nervous that we may have lost our money
But in the end we were pleased with the cabin0 -
I posted a few weeks ago that I was getting worried because I'd ordered my cabin back in July & had not been given a delivery date other than "next week" each week. Well we finally got a delivery date & of course I was sceptical so I kept asking every day was it guaranteed to be delivered on the day & kept being told yes - they will contact me. So we gave the benefit of the doubt & waited in on the day. By lunchtime we had heard nothing so got back in touch on webchat to Dana & lo & behold were informed that there was a "problem" & our cabin would not be delivered on that day afterall!
but it would be delivered the following week.
Well sorry but no thanks! Requested a refund which took another whole week of badgering them every single day to be told that "It was being done that day"
I was so relieved when I got the refund, though gutted that I've waited months for something which didn't arrive & now the weather has changed dramatically not sure if it is log cabin building time of year.
I even told Dana about all the negative reviews on here to which she said that they were having difficulty keeping up with the demand & that the cabins themselves didn't have any bad reviews.... er maybe that's because nobody actually appears to have received one! I even asked if I could still have the cabin & pay over the phone by card when it arrives.... I didn't even get a reply to that one!!
Had they have told me when I initially ordered that the lead time was 8 - 10 weeks instead of constantly lying I would have been happy to wait. They knew damn well it wasn't going to arrive.
I still want the same cabin & will probably buy it from Dunsters who have it but it will cost me about £700 more. The old saying comes to light "If it looks to good to be true.... it probably is"
Wouldn't you think they would come along on this forum & at least explain themselves truthfully?0 -
eventful: Thank you very much for sharing this, I am glad you got your cabin and hope enjoy it, despite the emotions I have no doubt you would have experienced in dealing with this company.
Luckypaws: Have you had a look on eBay you might find something especially if you negotiate with seller; after ages browsing around I eventually found something similar to what I ordered from SM Buildings, same size, about £170 cheaper there is no double glazing, but includes errection and best of all - cash on delivery.
DCFc79: Who are you to pull up wakleym? Have you got any experience in dealing with this company? I assume you think he is shouting because he used capitals - he is giving a warning which it needs repeating again and again. As someone who is a victim of this company's practices, I'm happy to repeat it and hope it helps someone if they read this thread before ordering:
