Still Lower USS Transfer Value
Just for interest I put in for a transfer value with USS again. (Last was in 2022, after transfer values fell off a cliff) Surprisingly, given that I am two years older, and given the recent uplift, my CETV is lower than it was back then. The ratio is now essentially bang on 7x (Just providing as a frame of reference - I…

Pension recommendations
Hi everyone! I'm currently deciding what to do about my pension, and I'm a bit stuck. I have 2 small-ish pension pots from former employers which I'm no longer paying into (I became self-employed in 2019). Combined, these pension pots amount to just under £5,000. I'm 30 this year and now have around £30,000 I'd like to…

Help understanding a LGPS increase which has become a significant decrease
I'll confess that I always have difficulty with numbers and understanding how tax works. However, despite an increase of 6.7% in my local government pension the monthly amount I receive has gone down by almost £100 a month. I have two LGPS (Avon Pension) pensions and a Hargreave Lansdown SIPP in drawdown, throughout last…

Pension provider complaint
Hi, hope this is the right board but please feel free to move to the tax board or similar if I’m wrong! I lost a parent in 2020 and am executor and sole beneficiary for their estate. Inheriting DC Pension Funds That Had Already Been Inherited Previously
I understand that, when a pensioner dies before age 75, they can leave their Defined Contribution funds to their beneficiaries and that these funds can then be drawn by the beneficiary free of income tax (whereas, if death occurs after 75, then income tax would be payable at the beneficiary's marginal rate as and when they…

Hi everyone, I have a defined benefits pension with the civil service. I've noticed this month the employer pension contribution has gone from 27.1% up to 28.97%. I know that as a defined benefits pension, this percentage of money doesn't really come to me. However I'm wondering why the percentage would have gone up, and…

NHS Pension complaint
I have been stuck in a ludicrous loop with NHS pensions since 2021. They recorded the dates of one of my pensions incorrectly. I challenged this at the time (8 years ago). Hello, My brother and I are equal beneficiaries of a Discounted Gift Trust set up by our mother with an advisor from St James's Place a few years before she died. Lies about income tax on state pension on Sky News Kay Burley
MP Mel Stride said in an interview with Kay Burley (56sec into the interview on 8 April 2024) that no pensioner reliant on a state pension would be paying income tax. This is simply not true as my 80yr old widowed mother in law does. She has no other pension. As she explains it, with some difficulty she paid on my father…
