Self Assessment / pension / tax calculating
Hi, I've searched for something like this for a few days now but nothing quite fits. Basically as you can't use the Gov.UK website to run a simulation of a self employed return prior to the end of the current tax year what I'm looking for is some kind of simulator or calculator that allows you to input profits, interest…

Transferring part of a SIPP
I have an ii SIPP and a 212 stocks and shares ISA. I much prefer the 212 platform and the lower fees. I would like to leave my stocks/holdings in the ii SIPP and transfer the cash to a 212 SIPP. Is that allowed? I do not want to go into drawdown.

LGPS & State Pension Age
I and 43m and joined LGPS in 2017 on the CARE scheme - which I understand is tied to the State Pension Age. For me, this is currently aged 68. (with the increase from 67→68 scheduled for sometime 2044-46) The current implementation of the SPA rise to 67 got me thinking about the risks around this for planning for…

Can I ask those who have a USS pension, are you having problems logging on to the site? I have tried over the last couple of days and keep receiving the following message: Sorry, something went wrong... We seem to be experiencing a few technical issues in My USS. Please try again, or maybe come back later.

Pension consultation
Hi, we have been informed at work that there is going to be a change in our pensions and that this will be changed to a net pension scheme, and asking if we want to opt out of this. At the present time our contributions go in from our gross pay. This is due to the national minimum wage increasing and breaches that may…

planning for death is expensive!
My basic plan looks fine - stress tested for 2% real returns and monte carlo etc. But if one of us dies (specifically me as the most impactful) - my DB gets cut in half, and we lose one state pension (after 67 - prior to that we have life insurance still in place). Before, almost all funds were covered by guaranteed…

Sipp flexi access drawdown and LSA
Hi all About to start drawing down from my II sipp. I think I'll be going with Flexi access and so thinking about the amount to crystallise at a time. Am I right in thinking that as long as you have enough cash to withdraw then crystallising the entire fund offers protection for the lump sum allowance? In other words, and…

ILGs held to maturity
To hopefully assuage my fears - am I right in thinking that even if there was a collapse of the bond market and providing ILGs are held until maturity, all other things being equal, it would not affect the redemption value on maturity? I note yields seem to be rising and various articles on declining investor confidence in…

Early Retirement Refused
I’m 55 and I have a deferred DB pension with Diageo, I started in 1999 and left in 2001. I had transferred in my previous DB pension from IMI who I worked for from1988 to 1999. I recently asked for a benefit statement and they mistakenly thought I had asked for early retirement (no plans to retire until aged 60). They sent…

Crystallised v Uncrystallised pension
I’ve been doing some reading to try to fully understand the concept of crystallising a pension, I think I’ve got my head around it but would appreciate if I could get some confirmation here that I’ve understood the various scenarios correctly… So at a high level an uncrystallised pension is one where the funds have not…
