Hospital parking

My hospital where I volunteer have had their parking arrangements done in-house. Now they are about to introduce a PPC.
Previously volunteers have had free parking, now the company wish to charge us, it will be paid for by the Friends of the Hospital, but why should they have to use their money to support their volunteers.
Two questions then. Are there any different arrangements for parking on NHS property than any other private road?
Who is likely to receive the parking revenue? If it is the hospital then the PPC have a zero loss. If it is the PPC, then presumably they can charge for the loss of revenue of what they would normally charge for a volunteer's permit, if I decided not to put up a permit.

The hospital most likely.
Frankly as a volunteer I would withdraw my services, write to the Chief Exec. saying why, and try to persuade the other volunteers to do the same. They'll pretty soon change their tack on this.Je suis Charlie.0 -
...or they will simply provide free permits for volunteers.
The PPC - unless its is TPS (who seem to operate a more reasonable service at hospitals) will be the ones to really gain with the Trust (or perhaps a facilities management company who may sit between the Trust and the PPC) getting a cut of the PCN revenue. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
We are talking about getting all the voluntary services together to make a protest.
The Chairman of the Friends of the Hospital and the (Hospital Radio) Station Manager are trying to arrange a meeting with the Management.Thank you for reading this message.0 -
Totally agree - if it ain't broke don't fix it (and certainly not be getting a scammer in). Gawd knows what PPC salesmen 'suits' put in people's tea when they all sit around the table and the retailers or hospitals somehow come out convinced that getting a PPC in is a good idea. Do they hypnotise them or something as all common sense goes out of the window?!Previously volunteers have had free parking, now the company wish to charge us, it will be paid for by the Friends of the Hospital, but why should they have to use their money to support their volunteers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Unfortunately during the daytime there has always been a lack of sufficient parking space (even for those with permits), and people tend to park out of bays.
It will be interesting to see how / if the PPC [SIZE=-1][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]alleviate this problem.

PPC: So you have a parking problem?
Management: Yes there are too many cars and not enough spaces, and our guy can't get round to put a note on offending vehicles.
PPC: Don't worry we can take it off your hands, and it won't cost you a penny. We will put up notices explaining that parking is restricted. We will send our guys round to check on the vehicles parked. If any of them are breaking our rules we will put a ticket on their car and fine them.
We will keep the fines instead of charging you. Once people realise we are fining them for not showing a permit, staying overtime etc. they won't park here again.
Management: We don't have to do anything then?
PPC: No, just sign on the dotted line.Thank you for reading this message.0 -

And the bit that Management forgot to ask:
"So when you've fixed the parking problem, how will make any more money? Surely it's in your interests to actually make the problem worse?"Je suis Charlie.0 -

You mean to think that Management think that far ahead. All they want is the problem solved, now and don't consider the future!Thank you for reading this message.0 -
Although I haven't seen it for myself, I understand they have cameras around the car park recording when you arrive / leave. How is this monitored and how do they know how much you have paid for your parking? Surely they don't have a guy sitting there checking every car when it arrives / leaves?Thank you for reading this message.0

This is the flaw of using an ANPR system. It is not fit for purpose. This is covered as one of the PoPLA appeal points in the NEWBIES thread.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
