given that Jeremy Hunt has issued new guidelines, which include the move to pay on exit and scrapping anpr , you would think your TRUST would take this into account when dealing with parking issues going forward
at the moment most systems are anpr + ticket machines with VRN entry0 -

How is this monitored and how do they know how much you have paid for your parking? Surely they don't have a guy sitting there checking every car when it arrives / leaves?
The cameras automatically read your number plate as you arrive and leave, and you enter your reg. when paying. The software ties the two together.
At least, that's how it's supposed to work, it's notoriously unreliable. And with this much technology in place already it would be trivial for the machine to display the exact amount you need to pay instead of you guessing, but then people wouldn't get it wrong, and where's the money in that?Je suis Charlie.0 -
Can its in reliability be proved? According to the hospital website it is operated by paybyphone.co.uk and it is up to you to you to pay for 2 hrs parking even if you are staying only for 1.5 hours!
Presumably if you don't pay or display a permit, the same PPC 'rules' apply.Thank you for reading this message.0 -

So you have to have a 'phone? There are EU laws regarding social exclusion, doubly applicable at a hospital I'd have thought.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Slightly OT, my local authority have abandoned parking machines and expect people to use their mobiles to pay for their parking (or find a shop that is selling vouchers). So would this be 'social exclusion' ?Thank you for reading this message.0 -

They would probably argue not if you can buy a voucher in a shop - if you can find one that's open and do the deal before getting a ticket, that is.
There was a case in the European courts against Barnet Council but where it's at (if anywhere) I've no idea.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Does this mean you need to buy the vouchers in advance to she them ready to display? They have something similar in Jersey I remember from my holiday there.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. I don't know as I never park in controlled streets. However, I don't suppose they would give you time to park and then go away to look for a shop that sells the vouchers.
It would be helpful if they would put up signs next to the parking restriction notice of where you can get buy the vouchers.Thank you for reading this message.0
