It would be helpful if they would put up signs next to the parking restriction notice of where you can get buy the vouchers.

What, and lose the opportunity to fleece you of money?

Slightly OT, my local authority have abandoned parking machines and expect people to use their mobiles to pay for their parking (or find a shop that is selling vouchers). So would this be 'social exclusion' ?

I have never paid for parking using a mobile phone, would not wish to do so and do not wish to have to find out how it is done nor change my mobile phone in order to do so so I take it as discrimination against those who have no phone, dont have the correct phone or dont wish to use a phone for the job, especially if its a paygo phone

clearly you cannot be expected to park and go find a shop so seems stupid to me - I agree its extra options as well as having various payment methods but to force people down a road they dont wish to go is ludicrous , stupid, short sighted and infringes their rights

its like the stupid assumption we get now where you are always expected to have social media accounts like facebook - so shops tell you to put things on their facebook page, or comments, whereas there are people like me that do not have facebook and will never join facebook (or twitter , or snapchat , or any other system of similar nature)
  • I have received a little bit more information! I am told that us voluntary workers must only park in staff car parking areas. Previously we normally did park in the staff areas, but if it was full and there was a space in the public area, we would park there.

Presuming I parked in a public area, and the revenue from the parking machines goes to the hospital (who would therefore have a loss); I presume the PPC still have zero loss.

I will be going there tomorrow evening so I will see for myself.

  • Okay, I have now been to the hospital and seen with my own eyes! It is being controlled by our 'old friends' Parking Eye.

There is plenty of signage. By the staff car parks it says that you must be registered on the hospital system and display your permit. They 'threaten' a fine of £100 !

Underneath thee is a lot of writing in very small print. I wasn't going to strain my eyes to read it. However, if it said something important, eg only cars with a reg no. that is an even number can park !!!), presumably this would be deemed unfair at POPLA ?

ParkingEye always lose at POPLA against our appeals, they throw in the towel. So there are no worries as long as no volunteers IGNORE a PE ticket and as long as no-one appeals weakly about what happened.

We love PE signs. They write essays on them don't they. I have to get my reading glasses out to read them , the writing is so small. I bet you have to be 7 ft 6 ins tall to read them too!

As for what POPLA will accept on the signage. That is a mystery, although I do believe if the signs say your vehicle will be clamped if you do something wrong, eg forget the second verse of the National Anthem, then they do frown on that. After all who doesn't know that verse!

To be fair they were at at a 'reasonable' height, but I was not prepared to stand there and study the sign in detail.

BTW Looking around all the cars I saw still had the old permits. I understand there is a minimum of two weeks delay in processing the application forms !

Depends on which National Anthem we're talking about. I certainly know mine! :D
